I need to wash my hair...

I flip said hair into a fluffy bun and slip on the outfit for the day, black pants and a tight red shirt with long netting sleeves.

I quietly open the door, not wanting to disturb a sleeping Asuma, he had come home very late last night.

Heading down to the kitchen I search the cabinets and fridge "ugh there's nothing here" I grumble

rolling my eyes I look around the room, the table had papers spread all over, Asuma's jacket lays on the floor next to the stairs, heading over to that I slip my hands in the pockets, pulling out his wallet and slipping some cash out of it for groceries. I pick up the jacket and lay it across the railing of the stairs and head over to the paper littered table.

I pull out a blank piece and scribble a quick note telling Asuma I was going to the market and then throwing on my sandals and heading out the door.

Although early, the streets were getting busy. I begin to walk to the market street, a street over from the house.

The early morning hum of the shoppers and merchants made me smile, it had been awhile since I had done anything as simple as shopping.

Examining all the stalls I try to see which ones had the best deals on rice and noodles.

"Sayuri! Good mornin" Kiba's voice greets from a stall to my right, I turn slightly as he approaches

"hey Kiba! Whatcha doing?"

he lifts up the bag in his hand "I had to grab some rice for my mom, we are having guests over for dinner"

"ooh nice" I say, peering around him towards the stall to look at the price of the rice "I need to get some too, there is literally no food in my house" I laugh, heading over to the stall

I select a bag and purchase it.

Kiba reaches over my hand and swiftly picks up the bag "I'll carry it for you" he says, a bright smile on his face

I laugh "thank you Kiba" and grab his other hand, leading him over to a noodle stand picking out some good ramen noodles and some harumaki wraps

"its been a long time since I've made Harumaki" I laugh as I pay and hand the bag to Kiba, he managed to hold the three bags in one hand and hold my hand with his other, I cant help but blush at his action. Here we are, in the middle of the market, surrounded by people, holding hands when neither of us actually confessed our feelings for each other, but I was fine with it maybe he just wants to take it slow and i dont know, maybe he wants to wait a little bit before asking me out or expressing his feelings...

We stop at a vegetable stand and I accept the bag from the owner and begin selecting vegetable "I'll need two cabbages and some carrots" I say as I put them in the bag "and some green onions and -" I trail off, examining the green onions "oh ginger! I need ginger and garlic!" I slip them in the bag and look around the table "I think thats all" I say, handing the bag back to the owner has she weighs them and gives me my total

we head off again, hand-in-hand and I examine the other stalls "I dont know what else I need" I admit, "I just don't want to go home and find out I missed something "

Kiba looks in the bags "do you need oil?" he asks

I shake my head "no theres a gallon in the cabinet"

"what about some meat?"

"ah yeah you're right!" I turn around, looking for a meat stand and dragging Kiba over

"I should get some chicken for the Harumaki and some pork for the ramen" I nod to the owner, palcing my order and selecting the quantity of the meat

I thank them as I take the bag and sigh "I think that's everything" now I can go home and make some lunch" I laugh

"you making the Harumaki?" Kiba asked, gently guiding me through the busy crowd

"yeah" I answer "its time consuming and I have nothing else to do today" I laugh

"can I help?" he asks, looking back towards me, a shy smile on his face "I've never made it before so you can teach me"

"Sure!" I say, a little too excited "that'll be great" we begin walking back to my house

we pass a small group of chunin shinobi and I hear them quietly begin muttering about something, I feel their eyes on my back as Kiba and I walk away

Suddenly Kiba stops, I feel him tense up beside me and his eyes narrow

"Kiba? whats wrong?" I ask, looking up at him and then pausing not daring to look over to the group of shinobi

I bet it was about me... I manage to look up and make eye contact with one of them for a fleeting second, his eyes full of hatred and blame It's about the Hokage, it's about my failed mission...

I drop my gaze, looking back at Kiba, his eyes murderous and his arms barely beginning to shake out of fury

"Kiba?" I say again, much more quietly as I stared into his eyes "lets go please, I don't want to get into a fight here"

His face begins to soften as his eyes examine my solemn face, just a few inches from mine as I stood on the tops of my toes to make eye contact with him.

I grab his sleeve, the hand I was holding was clenched into a tight fist, his knuckles white, and begin to lead him away, he glances at the group over his shoulder, releasing his fist as he picked up my hand again and followed me with an unreadable expression on his face

I gripped his hand tightly as I led us through the streets, arriving at my porch and promptly opening the door and dragging Kiba inside

If they knew, how many others knew, quite a few must know, just from being in the room but...does every shinobi in Konoha know? will I be shunned for the rest of my life? o rlabeled as the kunoichi who failed?

A soft hand draws me out of my thoughts as it runs along my cheek, "don't worry about it" Kiba says softly, his eyes glancing at my lips for a second so short I thought I had imagined it "cmon" he drags me towards the kitchen "you said its time consuming right? we better get started"
