You know how when you were a little kid and you believed in Fairy Tales? That fantasy Of what You're life would be- white dress, Prince Charming who'd carry you away to your castle on a hill, breakfast in bed as he's apologizing because he burned the food and the coffee is too strong and bitter and yet you drink it because you know he really wanted to make you feel special...

I called the girls and told them I wasn't gonna be picking them up, since I had decided on going to the DX early. I didn't tell them that was the reason why though. Maybe it's a mistake, I should go in the afternoon. I sighed as I tried to decide on when I should go. I could simply go during lunch. No. I'm going after school and that's that. Gosh I'm so indecisive. I sighed as I picked my outfit for the day.

I ran down with my backpack in hand. "Buon giorno bambina." My mom smiled as she saw me. I smiled and kissed her cheek.

"Hello momma, how are you?" I asked as I pulled away from the hug. She handed me my plate of eggs and toast.

"I slept very well baby, but tell me, any cute guys?" She asked I looked at her. Suddenly the boy from the DX crossed my mind again. I couldn't help but deny it. I couldn't fall in love. I can't. I'm inexperienced with that type of things and when I do like someone, they just take it as an invitation to play around with me.

"No momma." I said. She looked at me and raised an eyebrow.

"Not even Daniel? That boy got hotter. He looks like a cioccolato." My mom said with all honesty.

I gasped. "Momma!" I said as I laughed.

"What?" She said with all innocence. I laughed harder and she too laughed with me.

"He did get better looking over the summer and he does look like a cioccolato" I said quoting her. "But I don't think he would like me that way. And I don't like him that way either. Plus, I wouldn't wanna break our friendship." I said. She nodded. Signal that she was understanding what I said.

"I understand, but sometimes your best friend is your soulmate. Just saying." She said. I nodded. I understand her point. Where she's coming from. But, there isn't much to like about me anyway.

I got in my car. It was after school. I had told the girls I was gonna do some errands for my dad. I took the top down, grabbed some glasses and drove off into the greaser part of town. Boy, if Leo found out I was here, he would never stop questioning me. I pulled into the DX and parked my car. The bell chimed as I opened the door. The same boy from yesterday walked in and I couldn't help but smile. He gave me a warm smile. I felt like I've seen him somewhere. And I know I have.

"Oh, I guess you're here to see Sodapop right? He's not here but if you want to leave your number or a message, or just come some other day? He had to stay home today-" he said. He looked shy.

"Actually. I came to see you." I said quietly. God I'm so shy.

He placed a smile on his face. And handed my his hand. "Steve-"

"Randle right?" I said cutting him off.

"Yeah, how did you-?"

"We're in English and Chemistry together. You sit behind me." I said as I smiled. We let go of our hands.

"Oh that's right, Elena right?" He asked as he smiled. I nodded looking down. "We should get a coffee sometime." He said. "Unless of course you don't want to, maybe your boyfriend wouldn't like it." He quickly added.

"Boyfriend?" I asked.

"Yeah, Daniel." He said.

I laughed and looked down. "Daniel and I are good friends. We aren't together or anything." I said as I looked at him.

"Oh okay." He said. There was some silence between us. "We could get a coffee today, unless of course your busy, in which that case I'm sorry. Or maybe your parents wouldn't allow it." He said.

"Don't worry, my parents wouldn't mind and I'm free today, unless of course you are busy with school work." I said.

"No." He said as he shook his head. "Well, I have some math homework I don't understand much but it's okay," he said.

"I could help you with it." I said shyly.

His eyes widened.

"You'd do that?" He asked.

I nodded.

"Okay well where do you wanna go?" He asked.

"I'll drive. Get your things and we can go." I said.

He nodded and grabbed his bag from the back room and closed the door once we got out. I got in the car and drove somewhere.

This is what this felt like. We weren't necessarily close or anything. We didn't know much about eachother. We had only been in a car for five minutes and we have had small talk. But driving with the wind blowing through my hair, threading it, pushing it to the back of my face and occasionally making it stick to my coat of lipgloss. I have the thought that I know nothing special will come from this. Because I've made up my mind that I'm not special enough, smart enough to deal with this. I'm too sensitive, people mistake my kindness for weakness and I can't stand up. The thing is, it's hard to let go of that fairy tale entirely because almost everyone still has that smallest bit of hope and faith that one day they'll open their eyes and it will all come true.
