MJ and Kai have been friends since debut, since they debuted in the same year. EXO and DAYdream are both close, so both groups hangout often. Both Kai and MJ developed feeling. In January 2014 EXO was invited to MJ's birthday party. Kai took this as a perfect time to confess, MJ was surprised she didn't expect him to like her back. MJ also confessed and they began dating.
