Episode 1
By Yhugee Dave Dike
“Babe are you sure your parents would love me”, Praise asked me looking worried after I told him how strict my parents are especially my Dad.
“sure they will, you know my parents trust me to make the right decisions, and you’re one of the best decision I’ve made in my life”  I replied Him holding his left hand in order to make him comfortable.

I was really scared, although I made a right decision choosing Praise to be my life partner but I wasn’t sure if my parents would really be okay with the decision I made in accepting Praise’s proposal to be my husband. I’ve always been the obedient daughter obeying every single thing my parents said to me without complaining unlike my other siblings. And this was what made me the favourite child in the family of two boys and two girls making us four children in the house. I obeyed what my parents told me right from my childhood years till this time, but if I should make any decision on my own it would have to be in marriage, after all I’m no longer a kid any more. All I just wished from them was a listening ear and an understanding heart coupled with their blessings.
I constantly smiled at my fiancé, I knew I had a healing smile but I wasn’t sure it was making him feel better because even while we drove in the car with the A.C on I couldn’t help but notice he was still sweating unusually. But as a man he was, he still tried making it look like he got everything under control which also gave me strength too and reduced my fears. After a long journey from Anambra to Kogi we arrived my house. I didn’t want him to drive into the compound so I asked Him to park outside the compound which was fenced round and with a red gate. We came down from the vehicle and walked hand in arm to the gate. I knocked at the gate and our maid came and opened the gate
“Gbaam…gbaam…gbaam, come and open the gate oh” I said while hitting our gigantic iron gate
“who is that?” the maid who was helping my mum at home came running from where she was washing clothes just inside the compound
“It’s me Chinaza”  I replied from outside
“hey aunty Naza welcome oh, good afternoon. Good afternoon Sir” the maid greeted us while smiling and bowing
“ehen how are you?” I said
“I’m fine” she replied
“are my parents around” I asked her, while she struggled trying to close the gate
“yes, both of them are in the parlour watching film” she answered pointing to parlour door
We both walked together to the parlour but this time we weren’t holding our hands again we walked separately though not far from each other, but just kept a safe distance. I knocked slightly at the parlour door before my mum came to open the door, immediately she saw me she was so happy and gave me that motherly warm hug that I wished lasted forever. After the long hug she noticed that Praise was standing right behind me, Praise also greeted her
“good afternoon ma” Praise greeted my mum
“ehen, how are you? come in and seat down my son” she said
My mum was one person I could trust to tell her anything so I already told her that I would be bringing my fiancé to the house, so I knew she already knew who the young man standing with me was. She was happy seeing Praise and already referring to him as her son even before he was formally introduced, seeing he was handsome and looked gentle and from the way he dressed, to her he was a rich man too. That’s one type of son-in-law every mother would want to keep.
After welcoming me and my fiancé and exchanging pleasantries with my mum we entered the parlour and I met my dad siting on the couch....
