As most of you guys already know, a man by the name of George Floyd was murdered by a police officer in Minneapolis. The reasoning behind Floyd's murder is beyond ridiculous. For those who don't know the full details, officer Derek Chauvin put his knee on Floyd's neck because he was "resisting arrest." There is security camera footage showing that George wasn't resisting arrest. Bystanders and Floyd were begging officer Chauvin to release his neck, but he refused to.
After 2 minutes Floyd went unconscious due to lack of oxygen. Even so, officer Chauvin still kept his knee on Floyd's neck until the ambulance arrived. George Floyd was pronounced dead later that day.
Though I'm not black, it disgusts me how racist people can be. Because I am Hispanic, I know that harrassment by the tone of your skin is another of the many problems we have in this sick country. Every day, more black people are getting harrassed and killed, simply for having darker skin, even as you read this. Take the time to repeat that to yourself.
Black lives matter. They do, they really do. Now more than ever, our black folk needs us, so we can all stand together againts adversity. If we all unite, no matter your race, gender, or any of the sort, we can defeat the hate lurking in the country.
I know that with the whole COVID-19 situation, all of these problems are becoming more and more stressful to deal with. But I have faith that we, the people of the United States of America will be able to get back rights for all black men, women, and children. Thank you for your time.
