chapter 42

3:51 am as I'm starting this chapter. Excellent

Denki's POV

As we were all making our way to the pool I heard a few ear-splitting screams. I turned to Mina in confusion and continued to walk.

When we entered the steamy room the intoxicating smell of chlorine filled the air. I coughed a few times and sighed. This wasn't going to be as fun as I thought.

"Actually, I think I saw another pool not too far from here. I'm pretty sure it doesn't cost much to get in." Mina says bringing hope yet again. "Yeah, now that you say that it sounds familiar." Sero smiles. "Let's go!!" I call, running through the lobby, shirtless may I add.

I stop outside the building for the rest of my 'squad' to catch up, after forcing someone to go get their wallet and making a deal to pay them back after. Once we were all ready, Kiri and I dragged Hitoshi and Bakugo as Mina and Sero took the lead since they knew where the pool actually was.

The walk was relatively short just like Mina said, and the prices were decent. Once we were allowed in I realized this place was much nice than I anticipated. I half expected a place with prices like these to be an absolute dump however this exceeded my expectations by a longshot.

Without thinking I run through and jump straight into the water. Since it was an outdoor pool the freezing cold water sent shivers all throughout my body. I quickly swam to the edge and pulled myself up. "I would've warned you but that probably would have been no help at all." My boyfriend sighs. "You could've just used your quirk, silly!" I giggle slowly lowering myself into the water again.

I watch as Mina takes the stairs to enter, and Sero does the same thing I did. Kirishima clings onto Bakugo in spite that it will be too cold and Shinso just watches me aimlessly paddle. Eventually I pull him in and he too feels the freezing temperatures. "Denki, I wanna race you!" Sero declares from the other side. "Are you gonna use your tape like last time we all raced?" He shakes his head and swims over to my end of the water. "I'll be the referee!" Mina swims over to us. At this point I'm thankful nobody else is there to watch a bunch of 15/16 year olds aimlessly swim around like crackheads.

"Alright, touch the edge." Mina instructs and we line up at the wall. "Ready?" The girl asks and we both nod. "Okay, three, two, one, go!" She yells. I feel sort of silly acting like such a child however it's not strange behavior for us.

I watch as Sero takes the lead due to his long legs. Ultimately when it comes to speed Sero is pretty fast.

It wasn't as long as the school's pool, however it wasn't far either. When it came down to it I knew I was about to lose however when there was only a little bit left Sero suddenly stopped and I assumed it was because of his loss of breath. Now's my chance! I immediately speed up and watch as his face holds regret and determination. He immediately gets back into it and by this point I'm only slightly closer.

In the end I touched the edge about one second earlier and did my best fist pump in the water.

Mina helped us pull us out and Sero rolled his eyes while smiling at me as if to say 'I'll get you next time.' I run back to the wall and run to the pool jumping in with a spin. When I float back up I feel pretty elite because of my 'trick.' "Just got diagnosed with cool guy syndrome." I announce while pulling Shinso into the water. His hair flops down like it always does after getting wet and I smile. Kiri finally gets Bakugo to come into the water and we both are happy about managing to convince our (one unofficial but basically) boyfriends to have fun with the rest of us.

"Bakubro!" I call over to him and swim over to the unamused blonde. "You should just ask him out."

He shakes his head in annoyance. "I can't! Everyone knows I can't so stop rubbing it in!" I sigh. "Mina, c'mere for a sec." She quickly swims over. "If Bakugo were to ask Kirishima out would it be against the soulmate law things?" She thinks for a second and hesitantly shakes her head. "If you were to date he would probably find out you guys are soulmates but if you're that desperate then go ahead. Nothing is against it. Also, I wouldn't make it personal to anyone outside the squad." Bakugo nods and I smile. "Then how do I do it?" I smile in achievement. "Well.. once we were talking about love and shit and he said he likes a romantic type but will still be super fun and chill. Do something unexpected." He nods. "SHITTY HAIR!" Bakugo yells startling us all.

"We're going out later. Try not to look like absolute shit and don't bring money. I'm paying." The redhead nods and swims over. "Where are we going?" Bakugo shrugs. "Wherever our feet take us."
