Hi everyone, thank you so much for the 1,000 views, I love you all!

As a little token of gratitude, today's chapter is a special one shot completely unrelated to the main storyline you may skip if you want. This one shot will be what happened on the football date JJ and Reid went on in Season One. This entire story will be from JJ's POV. (Watch the video attached to get the context if you don't remember. And Will doesn't exist, thankfully.)

Enjoy!

—————————————————————

It was the plane ride back from yet another exhausting case, and I was reading my files, almost dozing off.

"Um...JJ?"

I looked up, roused by the familiar voice of my best friend: Spencer Reid.

To be honest with myself, he was much more than a best friend. He was my soulmate, my first love, and the one I secretly admired from afar. He was the one my heart beat faster for, the one I worried about when we were on a case. Even from the first moment I saw him, I knew he would be a piece of my heart. Everything about him was perfect: His nerdiness, social awkwardness, and adorkable personality. I've always loved him, but in the long time we have known each other, I've always been a coward, unable to say those three words. I didn't know why, but I was just so scared. What if he rejected me? It would most definitely ruin our friendship, ruining the teamwork we had going so well in the BAU. I had hoped he would say something first, but I constantly reminded myself that it was Spence. He would never be the one to do something so rash.

"What's up, Spence?" I said, yawning.

I scooted over a little closer to him, not sure how to make myself more obvious. He wasn't exactly good at picking up on romantic moves.

"So, uh, how do you feel about-"

He was hyperventilating too much to continue, his gaze darting around, anywhere but mine. I noticed he was sweating slightly, and I was confused. This wasn't the Spence I knew.

"Spence. You can tell me anything, you know that right?"

"Yeah..."

He didn't say anything for a second, but then he suddenly blurted out:

"How do you feel about going to a Redskin's Football game with me this Sunday?"

I froze. This couldn't be happening, it was too good to be true.

I tried to laugh the notion off.

"S-Sure. I love the Redskins, actually."

He managed to look me in the eye for the first time since the start of the conversation.

"It'll be a date, if that's okay with you?"

My world seemed to spin as I processed his words over and over in my head to make sure I had heard correctly.

It'll be a date, It'll be a date, It'll be a date...

I realized he was still staring expectantly at me.

Now is not the time to hesitate JJ, this is my chance! I chided myself, not allowing another passed opportunity.

"Yeah! That sounds good."

"Really? No one's ever said yes to me before. Well, I've never asked anyone else either. Just don't feel pressured to go because it's me."

It must have been terrible for him, never growing up with the appropriate age group in school.
