McGonagall was almost sorted into Ravenclaw. She was what's called a "hatstall" which is when the sorting hat takes more than 5 minutes to sort a student. Pettigrew was also a hatstall and was almost sorted into Slytherin.

No one found the Resurrection Stone after Harry because it was stamped underground when the centaurs ran to aid wounded people at Hogwarts.
