XIX: Just A Moment Ago

just a moment ago, you were caressing my face
you taught me how to live, you taught me joy and grace
just a moment ago, did i call you by your name
only to crave for your voice, your voice which never came.

just a moment ago did you teach me how to walk
holding my hand, with your safe fingers did my young ones interlock
as you lay in your coffin I held your hands once more
your cold, dead palms, their bare feel made my heart feel sore.

just a moment ago, did you hold me in your arms
you promised me you'd protect me from any sort of harm
the love you held for me, i would never feel it again
as i closed your eyes for the last time, my tears murmured an 'amen'.

because just a moment ago did you leave me here alone
and with that taken all the joy that I've ever known
just a moment ago, you took away the reason that kept me from feeling sore
'Mother', a word, i couldn't call you anymore.
