"Thanks for not leaving me alone," she said hoarsely.  They would both very likely get sick after this, after all they walked out on a cold night without warm clothes and just sat around in the rain for quite some time. But that doesn't mattered.  Finally they found each other again.  The connection that had been cut off for years worked again.

Heiji slowly pulled himself up and helped Kazuha up, too.  "Let's go home," he finally said.  He put his arm around her shoulder and together they staggered back.  But even if it was the best thing that could happen, certain doubts didn't let him go.  Why did she thank him for not leaving her alone, if it was not true?  Did she only remember the people but not her past?

At home they both made themselves comfortable on a sofa with what felt like a thousand blankets and hot tea.  Kazuha lay tired on his shoulder again, which was her typical pose, while Heiji stared holes into the wall.  Even if all this should be normal, it was strange.  Because whether you wanted to admit it or not; time had done its work.  Heiji had to get used to the fact that Kazuha was back.  And besides, there were her unfounded words.

"What's the last thing you remember?" Heiji now asked the question of all questions.  He wanted to make sure that everything was really back now, and he approached the matter with mixed feelings.  On the one hand, he didn't want Kazuha to remember the terrible time again, but on the other hand, she had to know that she had a daughter.  A daughter, of whom he couldn't even know who she really belonged to.

Kazuha thought for a moment.  "I guess everything...  As if it was yesterday...  I went to see the doctor."  She fell silent for a moment.  "It was a sunny day and I was a bit nervous and therefore careless.  Suddenly someone grabbed me from behind, held something in front of my nose and I blacked out.  I can't remember what they did."

Heiji ran with a shiver down his spine, but he didn't let it show.  Then his doubts had been confirmed.

"How much time has passed since then?" Kazuha asked carefully, remembering that she was pregnant.

Heiji thought about what he should say now.  He had sworn to be honest from now on.  He couldn't stand lying anymore.

He looked at her earnestly and with pain in his eyes.

"7...

Seven years."

Kazuha just looked at him in horror.  It couldn't be...  Why didn't she remember the last seven years?  She couldn't believe it because that would mean they had a child now.  "What happened during those seven years?" she asked in horror and panic.  "I don't know," Heiji just said, disappointed in herself.

"During that time...  "I wasn't with you..."
