Max's POV

I'm sitting on the stool and listening to Julia. She's telling Avar that she was a best friend of Avar's mom! Just as she finished, Avar goes to her phone and check it. My guess is that she was probably recording what Julia was telling her. Once Julia was about to take her gun, the door burst open and two police guys came inside. Wait they are Matt and Jackson. Just in time!

"On your knees, this is police," Jackson says as Matt put a handcuff on Julia quickly. Everything happened so fast. "You must be Julia," Jackson says to Julia who is struggling to get out of Matt's grip. Jackson then turns to Avar. "Avar, you are back..." I smile thinking of finding my parents and the couples who took care of me.

"No, you can not use me," Avar said stopping me from my dream.

"Avar, you are going to regret this," Jackson said.

"I'm sorry, but you no longer are my mentor," she told him before she went to my bedroom.

Was today really her birthday? I don't know the answer to that. I was disappointed by her action. She acted so childishly. Definitely not herself. "Something tells me that we will see more of each other," Matt told me. I glance at him. "We'll see," was all I said before they leave.

___

"Avar, can I come inside?" I asked her knocking the door of my room. I didn't want to be rude or make her more uncomfortable than she already is. After she doesn't answer I knock again.

I was thinking of knocking again when she opens the door. Her eyes are puffy like she'd been crying. "I'm sorry, I just feel bad right now," she starts. "It is bad to forget my own birthday. The person who wanted to kill me, reminded me of my birthday which happens to be today," she said taking a shaky breath before she continues, "I'm sorry, but I'm afraid I can't work with the police anymore,"

"Who asked you to work for the police or anyone? Listen there are certain things that I want to learn as well, so let's do this together," I tell her wishing she'd agree, but of course she won't.

"Do what?" She asks me dryly before folding her arms.

"You are looking for answers, so am I. Please we can be a good team," I say sounding like begging.

"We shouldn't," she said looking at the floor.

Why is she being so stubborn? "Why are you being stubborn? You know you want to know this!" I dare to say that.

She's quite for a moment to think about what to respond. I am so excited, and anxious at the same time. Did she get mad? Did I break the boundary?

"I'm not being stubborn," she finally breaks the silence. "I'm being honest. She was our aunt. Whether we want it or not we are a part of a criminal organization. I just wish there was a time travel machine, so I could see and feel what happened. I'm tired. I'm really tired," she says before she goes back to my room. This time she doesn't close the door, so I get in also. I then see her wallet on the nightstand. I take it and open it. She doesn't stop me.

There's a photo in the wallet. I take it out and have a look at it. It's a photo of two people. A lady and a guy. They are sitting on a sofa. Their hand is tangled together. The lady is slightly looking at the guy. It looks like they are a couple. Yea that's right. There are rings on their finger. They are husband and wife! "Who are they?" I ask as I keep looking at the photo. Their faces are unfamiliar to me. Not really unfamiliar. Something about the guy looks extremely familiar, still, I can't put my finger on what it is.

"No one important. You shouldn't have even look at that photo," she said seriously.

"You didn't say anything? If it wasn't meant for me to look why didn't you stop me?" I push for an answer.

"Because they are no one important," she says before looking away.

"Ok, this might be strange, but I feel like I saw the guy in the photo," I say.

"Perhaps you did!" I hate it when she doesn't tell me something directly.

"Where?" I ask impatiently.

"Are you sure you want to know that? Because we are in enough drama," Avar says not looking at me.

"Come on he needs to be someone. Who are they? Who is he?" I ask again.

"By putting pressure on me, you won't get anywhere," she replies before she snaps the photo out of my hand. I swear I know the guy in the photo. I look at her in disbelief. Still, she doesn't budge. "Let's just sleep," she said before laying on the bed.
I get to the washroom, do my business, brush my teeth, and go to my bed. I can't sleep well. I keep thinking of the people in the photo. Who was he? What was that picture doing in her wallet? I look over at her only to see she's fast asleep. How can she sleep so peacefully at the time like this? Well, I will ask her about the photo and the people in it again tomorrow.
