Let me not forge time to wait
For longing is painstaking
I was blurred by elusive fate
Hoping that love is breathtaking.

Imagining the words I yearn
Stumbled in desperate waiting
Yet, how bitter to discern
She's taken by someone for a wedding.

Recalling years ago, Cupid persists
That puppy love turned mature
Though it wasn't written in lists
I confessed love which is pure.

Failed expectations arise
Opportunities even are stricken
Feeling depressed in every sunrise
As barriers to woe thicken.

Years are passing of forlorn struggle
I realized,  the quest isn't mine
Can't insist too much in this gamble
Miserably reached the finish line.

Weeping has cleared my vision
That loving is a game of pain
I concede in this invasion
Then cry in the rain to regain.

Yes, I'm broken! So what?
You don't need to pity.
Do you love me? What's in the gut?
I can't wait to reach age eighty!

Loving is forgiving
Love is unselfish
No matter how we're deceiving
Serenity is felt... I wish.

Now, setting you free in my heart
Be carefree like a bird, winged!
Thank you though we'll be long apart
I'm letting you go... unhinged!
