The room remained deathly silent after Annie answered all of their questions. She was able to explain everything about her previous nation and the true origins of the Titans, and she also revealed a dark truth about the behavior of the Titan shifters.
Connie and Sasha remained silent because they were disturbed beyond human comprehension. If what she was saying was true, then....
"You're telling me.....We've been killing humans.....this entire time?". Connie said in a low voice, his eyes never leaving the ground.
Annie nodded, empathy being written all over her face.
Connie felt his heart sink and he looked at both of his hands. If they were really killing humans this entire time, then were their hands full of innocent blood? Was he a mass-murderer this way?
Armin and Mikasa were just as terrified at the revelation of the Titan's true origins, but something else terrified them even more.
The fact that Eren, their closest friend (and someone who was way more than just a friend to Mikasa), only had a short amount of time to live made their hearts sink into the pits of their stomachs.
Mikasa suddenly felt a lump form in her throat as she hung on Eren for dear life, she wouldn't bear losing Eren again, she can't lose him again!
She made a vow to herself to always protect him no matter the cost, because she owes her life to him. He was her source of strength and he was the reason why she found her purpose in life.
He was the one who made her see a point in living, even after her parents were brutally murdered right in front of her eyes.
She can't lose him again, because not only did she almost lose him once, but she almost lost him twice.
Armin also had a hard time believing it, because not only did it mean that his friend was going to die in a short amount of time, but that meant that Annie was going to die as well.
Annie, the same girl who he grew very close to.
The girl who he deeply cared about.
Armin approached her prison cell and he looked at her with eyes full of despair. "Annie...I don't believe it....There's gotta be a way to break this curse!". He said as he looked at her with desperate eyes.
Annie slowly shook her head. "If there was a way to break this curse, the Marleyan scientists would've figured it out by now". Annie said. "All what they've ever done is waste money and material when they tried to research a "cure" for this curse, in other words; there is no way to break it".
Armin felt his heart constrict in agony, the two people he cared about the most were going to die and there was nothing he can do about it.
"...T-Then....if that's the case....". Armin muttered. "How long do YOU have?".
"About six years...maybe even less". Annie said.
For a moment, sadness and grief overwhelmed the Arlert boy as he kept looking at Annie.
She didn't have much time left, Annie never got to live a good life and she only had six more years before she passes away.
Eren, on the other hand, remained silent.
At first, he didn't know how should he take these news, was he supposed to be sad? Depressed? In denial?
None of those feelings transpired in the boy, but instead; an unbridled sense of fury and determination took hold over Eren Jaeger.
So what if he had a short amount of time to live? Did that mean that he'll sit and wallow in his self-pity? If anything, the fact that he had a short amount of time to live only gave him more reasons to push forward for freedom.
