"I have to say, these little stickers my father created are quite useful, even if they can only be used once." Tiara discarded the spent sticker on the ground.
(Y/N) kept her arm across Amane, stopping her retreat but gently pushing him back. The name, Minamoto, caused a searing pain in her mind to resurface. Despite this, she wore a calm smile that never reached her eyes. The coldness wasn't lost on the humans on either side of her. Amane felt a renewed chill down his spine.
"A Minamoto, eh? Hasn't your clan already done enough damage? Sure, you put down some pretty dangerous supernaturals, but it's not like you discriminate." She took a confident step forward. The exorcist in front of her wore a light blue collared shirt, long black skirt, a black, lightweight jacket, white gloves, and her black school shoes. She took a defensive stance like it were a casual occurrence.
"I've heard the stories about your clan. One of the most powerful, right?" (Y/N) took another step forward. Tiara wasn't phased. "For centuries you've been cleaning up supernaturals, the good, the bad, and the ugly, to protect humanity." Tiara's smile was almost genuine after that, but Amane never saw the ice leave her eyes.
"Yeah, that's right. So you did do your research, except you got one thing wrong," from inside of her jacket, she grabbed something, but she kept it hidden within her fist. "There are no 'good' supernaturals, not even any harmless ones. It doesn't take much to act outside of your rumor, even once, before you disappear. That isn't counting when rumors are changed for the worse either." Her eyes settled on Amane, who looked at her in fear. She sighed and pointed at (Y/N).
"It's her you should be scared of, you know. You heard her, I protect humanity from dangerous supernaturals, so does the rest of my clan," she lowered her hand as Amane shook his head.
"How could she be dangerous? She's really powerful, but. . ." he was looking at her expression, that deadly smile playing across her face, and suddenly he was unsure of his next words. "Hana-chan wants to help keep the supernaturals from hurting the students, so wh-why would she be dangerous?" At Amane's stutter, (Y/N) looked back. The smile on her face dropped for a second, but she looked away from the boy again before her next words.
"How else am I supposed to keep up order? I have to be dangerous to remove dangerous supernaturals, just like she does," her attention snapped back to Tiara, "Except I don't remove the innocent ones."
"Only the innocent people, isn't that right? You kill them in cold blood with that fancy little stick of yours," Tiara gestured to (Y/N)'s right hand. Her grip tightened, and it made her knuckles white around the shiny object in her hand, but her face remained the same.
"Actually, I've never killed an innocent human. You're giving my friend here the wrong idea." Venom laced her words. Amane stepped away from the girls.
"Your friend? Don't make me laugh. How could a murderer like you have any friends?" The blonde seemed genuinely amused. "Boy, what's your name?"
"A-Amane Yugi, from the m-middle school building." He noticed he was nervously fiddling his hands, so he shoved them in his pockets.
"Yugi-kun, did you know she was a murderer? She's dangerous to be around, but you don't have to worry. I'm here now to make sure she'll never hurt anyone again." (Y/N) lunged forward quickly. Her face was darkened by the shadows, malice emanating from her when she grabbed onto Tiara's collar and shoved her against a wall.
"I could say the same of you, couldn't I? You're nothing but Minamoto trash coming to ruin the fragile balance between human and supernatural here in this school and destroy all the supernaturals that live here peacefully," (Y/N) twisted the exorcist's collar. The girl's breath was caught in her throat. "I won't let you take all this away from us. Just leave. Leave and stay out of here."
"Hana-chan, you'll kill her! Let her go!" Amane ran forward, tearing (Y/N)'s hand away from Tiara. The spirit released her, letting the boy pull her back and the exorcist fall to the ground. The glinting object in her right hand had disappeared, but Amane took no notice. There was a question in his eyes and (Y/N) answered before he had a chance to open his mouth. Her arms enclosed him and brought him away from Tiara without a second thought.
"It's true that I've killed in the past, but that doesn't mean they were innocent or that I did it in cold blood. Don't let her words fool you, Amane. I cannot harm the innocent, and I would never hurt you." She spoke softly, too quiet for the gasping exorcist to hear. The bandaged boy could hear the emotion in her words and nodded. The ghost released him, then she once again stood between him and the exorcist.
(Y/N)'s next words sounded strained. "So, Tiara, rather than exorcising me, perhaps we could come to some sort of. . . agreement?" She held out a hand to the girl, but it was slapped away viciously. Tiara stood on her own, brushing off the skirt and jacket. Anger dominated her features.
"An agreement with you? That's as bad as a deal with the devil himself. How about we try something else?" In a flash, she ripped out a tantō. Her clan name was engraved on either side of the blade that seemed forever tainted red from all the supernaturals it had dispatched. The handle was worn, but care was taken to ensure it remained clean and shiny.
She leapt onto (Y/N), pinning her down to the ground with her knees and her arm. Her right arm was positioned to stab the blade into the supernatural's heart, but a white wisp wrapped around her arm, holding her back. She yelled in frustration, trying to force her arm to go down while Amane froze. Before he managed to react, he noticed (Y/N)'s hand held out, telling him to stop. Reluctantly, he listened and stayed back. The blade was slowly making progress, and the ghost only clicked her tongue disapprovingly.
"Let me guess, you stab it in my heart and shoot in some spirit lightning so you can destroy me, right?" Tiara looked at her in annoyance while the hakujoudai tightened its grip on her arm. "Bad idea, if you ask me. You see, you got here a little too late. If you kill me now, you'll be a cold-blooded killer, too." A confident smirk made the exorcist uneasy, and she let up her assault slightly.
"What do you mean, 'too late?'" Confusion was evident in her face and words both now. "How would this make me a killer?"
"You see, me and the boy are bonded now. If you sever that bond, you kill us both. Only we or fate can sever it. You," she poked a finger at Tiara's forehead, "aren't fate. So unless you'd like to kill this innocent boy along with me, I'd suggest you step off."
