I had opened the Chamber of Secrets fifty years ago and planned to purge the school of Muggle-borns. However, when I learned that the school was going to close down due to the attacks and that Dumbledore and McGonagall was keeping a closer watch on me, I had no choice but to cease the attacks and frame Hagrid for doing it."
