-Jack's POV-
I shiver as I feel a cold chill go down my spine. I am awoken by several taps on my shoulder. My eyes flutter open, curious to see who is up at this time of night. I spy a female figure with medium length hair and ponder to who it might be.
"Millie?" I ask surprised.
"Hey, Jack. I just wanted to talk to you, you know, when the others can't hear us," she whispers with her soft voice.
"Yeah, I get you. Any luck with Noah?" I ask her.
"Nope. Every single time I try to talk to him, he is either looking or thinking about y/n," she looks at me with her glossy eyes.
"Come here," I pull her body closer to mine forming a hug, "I know you may not want to here this but I think you need to."
"W- what is it?" One tear slips down to her cheek as her voice cracks in pain.
"You can't force someone to like you. If he doesn't feel the same way, don't try to force him to be into you. That will only lead him into the opposite direction," I advise.
"What about y- you and y/n?"
"What do you mean? What about us?" I am taken aback by her question.
"I- isn't a fake relationship just forcing both of you to be into each other?" she croaks.
"I- I mean that's different. I'm doing that so y/n stays away from Noah and you can get closer to him. Speaking of that, I'm not sure how much longer I can continue with that."
"What! Why can't you?" her tears dried up and anger now arises from her voice.
"After getting to know y/n, she's nice and all but, not my type.....at all," I let out after thinking about it for a while.
"Please, Jack. Give me one more week and you can end whatever you have going on."
"Fine. One week, that is all you have."
-Y/n's POV-
Well, there is no where else to sleep so I guess I have to. I sigh and walk towards the air mattress that Noah is already dozing off on. I climb into the blankets and scoot over as far as possible that I can to get away from Noah.
-
I feel a slight pressure against my body. I fully open my eyes and turn my head in the opposite direction. My eyes instantly lock with a familiar pair of shimmery, hazel eyes. For a brief moment, it all goes away. Everything he has done to Jack disappears into thin air and I feel some sort of connection. The feeling almost automatically goes away as Noah scoots away and awkwardly mumbles a quick "s- sorry".
I hesitate at a snarky remark as I remember I am doing this for Jack and only him at this point, "you better be."
Before Noah has any time to respond, I get up and sprint to the bathroom. I run as fast as my legs can possibly take me and lock the door behind me. Out of breath, I search for where I put my bag. I finally find it hidden under a few clean towels. I change into a pair of white shorts and a striped tank top (whatever 2 colors you want).
I unlock the bathroom door and exit as quiet as possible so no one draws their attention to me, well, mainly just Noah.
I successfully make no noise exiting the bathroom and going up the stairs. I turn to close the basement door when I sense something around me.
"BOO!" Caleb yells, his hands up in my face pretending like he is striking an attack. Expecting someone, I fake a shriek and we both laugh at my mediocre attempt to "act".
"I'm making omelets right now so I better get back to making them," Caleb says heading towards the kitchen. I follow him into the kitchen because no one else was up yet besides Noah and I can't talk to him.
"Is there anything I can help with?" I ask out of complete boredom.
"You can help set the table," he suggests.
"Sure thing," I reply and start to get to work.
-Noah's POV-
I contemplate on getting ready for the day after the awkward situation that just happened with y/n. I push aside it anyway and sit up.
I notice both Millie and Jack are gone. I am a bit suspicious both of them are gone since they're the only ones not there besides y/n. Maybe they just woke up early and are upstairs. They wouldn't converse when others are awake, would they?
I conclude they both are just upstairs so I go to the bathroom to get ready. I slip on a white polo and khaki shorts(aka an outfit he wore in his recent trip), brush my teeth, and fix my hair to make it presentable.
Afterwards, I go back to the room where everyone was sleeping to grab my phone I left by my mattress. I notice everyone was now gone and must've went upstairs. I see the audio recording device slightly peeking out from under the mattress so I look around and pull it out. I already have it in my hands and can't wait any longer so I press play. A loud monotone beep starts playing. I sit and fast forward for about 5 minutes and decide nothing is on the tape. Right as I reach for the power button, a voice begins. I rewind it a few seconds back and pause it so it will be ready to play at any time.
I clutch the device into my hand so it is no longer visible to the eye and head upstairs. I close the door behind me and I immediately am exposed to a wonderful smell. I walk to the kitchen where the smell is coming from and notice that is where everyone is.
"Good morning," a few people say in sync.
"Good morning, where is Millie and Jack?" I take notice Millie and Jack are the only people who are not to be seen anywhere.
"They left early for something," Gaten says as he pours himself a glass of apple juice.
I eye Caleb and raise an eyebrow hoping he would pick up my message of suspicion towards Millie and Jack leaving early together but instead he gives back a confused look.
I sigh and raise my hand to facepalm when I realize I still had the audio device in my hand. I guess I had forgotten for a short span of time. Well, as long as everyone is here. It wouldn't hurt to play it, would it?
