David moved out to LA when he was eighteen and it was a really scary thing to do, it meant leaving his best friend. David and Natalie had been best friends for what felt like forever and he was about to leave her for good. All he could think in his head was "what am I doing?" As he boarded the plane, he knew that even though this was the scariest step he would ever take, it would be the best decision he would ever make, but just incase he decided to text Natalie right before he boarded the plane.
"Hey nat" popped up on her phone as she was out at dinner with her boyfriend. It was his birthday and as much as Natalie wanted to be at the airport with David, she knew this was her commitment.
She responded with guilt as she texted back, "Hey, you know how much I wish I was with you right now but it will all work out. No matter where you go i will always be right here. I love you Dave." As her message sent through, she couldn't help but wonder if she was making a mistake. I mean she couldn't be right? Her whole life was here and she was in a committed relationship, yet she couldn't help but wonder why she was feeling this way. She had a lump in her throat that didn't quite make sense, but she knew right in that moment, this is what love is. It is caring about someone so much that you can't bear to see them leave.
The message popped up on David's phone and the goofiest smile spread across his face. He quickly responded with a sweet "I love you too, Nat." As David stepped on the plane with the most joy and pride he'd ever felt, he finally knew that everything would work out.
