Dark, broken that road ahead
A period of time we will deeply dread
Nothing is known to be certain
From this insufferable burden
Citizens are barely surviving
Asking if the end is arriving
Every day's a new battle
Another obstacle to dismantle
Another day, another fear
That very same path, bleak and drear
Digging into the abyss of anguish
As many more continue to languish
Today will become history
Tomorrow an obscure mystery
A dark mist engulfing its midst
If only we knew what it consists
Never the same will our world be
Oh what a future we will see
Many dream of the day and plea
That they finally become carefree
When nature can caress the feet
Shine her love and play the beat
Tickle the skin with a salty breeze
And with every wave a subtle tease
For years ahead, restrictions imposed
Many doors shall remain closed
All over, barriers of enclosure
Our identities sealed from exposure
From trusting another, we'll step back
Human communication will backtrack
We'll count the risks, observe from a distance
To touch shall be an inevitable resistance
This fear of another one yet to come
And to what the world will become
Has spread reluctance all around
A heavy burden cast down
Already much was lost
From the economies it did exhaust
Families severed, members no longer
Millions and millions, left to wander
Though what we lost is not gone
Strength and determination, it did spawn
In the midst of all the commotion
We were able to discover what was broken
Flaws in the system emerged
Changes and new legislations urged
One day that road will find its flow
When that is, we do not know
A new era is on the horizon
To some a mere oblivion
To others, a fresh new start
Finally united with those at heart
Over the months, newfound attention
Digital health and telemedicine
A new world awaits where people truly appreciate
The importance of technology and its impending fate
Applications little more than extraordinary
Capable of saving the lives of many
Our weapon in this grievous war
The future unaware of what it has in store
As we pursue the path of restoration
Try to live in a post-pandemic nation
Walk on that road side-by-side
Stronger and stronger, with every stride
To these days we shall look back
A historic period, a vivid flashback
A dent in our past that shaped our future
Someday that path ahead will flow smoother
