"MAX," I shrieked so loud the room shook, the whole orphanage could probably hear me, "WHY IS MY HAIR GREEN, WHAT WERE YOU THINKING!"
He faked a cheeky smile, but I saw him choking the tears down.
"What's wrong?" I asked showing him that i'm there.
"It.. It's nothing," his voice was brittle, but he smiled like there was nothing wrong. He snapped his fingers and my hair went to bubblegum pink, the color I always wanted it, I hugged him.
He kissed me on the forehead and spoke softly, "Happy Birthday lil' potato!" he smiled but I could tell it was real this time, or at least half of it. I forgot it was my birthday, how did that happen? Suddenly, I felt a sharp pain in my back.
"Gah," I screamed in pain on the floor. Max ran up to me and the pain stopped, dead in its tracks. I just officially turned 16, my wings grew in. I flapped them hard and splat against the ceiling.
"Ow," I laughed with Max or he was laughing at me. I flapped my wings lighter this time and flew around the room and grabbed on to Max's shoulders.
