All his life, Bennett has been told that he must avoid a vicious tribe known as the Mush Men. They live in The Mush Forest, where giant toxic mushrooms grow. They are no longer human; their DNA has been altered by the mushrooms they eat.
His life changes after he meets Faye, a shy Mush girl who saves him from a fatal accident. From her, Bennett begins to realize that the Mush Men are nothing like what he is made to believe by his people. He tries to tell everyone, but they say the same thing.
"Do not ever trust the Mush Men, as they know no good."
