When Chan was discharged from the hospital he still didn't feel free because he'd have to go back to his apartment. The apartment he shares with his abusive boyfriend.

At this point, Chan feels sick when he looks at just the front door of the place.

It had been a couple of days and all Chan wanted to do was sleep away the pain. He had painkillers for his rib but when they wore off, bloody hell. It was like someone was reaching into body, molding past the skin and twisting one of his ribs. It felt, uncomfortable, different. It felt....out of place. Just like Chan.

In a weird way, he could relate to his rib, it was abused, just like him. It was amongst other perfectly fine species of itself. And it was bruised on the inside, just like him. Although the boy is also bruised on the outside most of the time.

The only difference was that Chan was mentally scarred as well....and....and also that it's a rib.

Chan shook his head at his dumb thoughts, turning the TV on to flick through the channels. His job doesn't require him for another 2 days after he told them about the hospital debacle.

Although his boss had said that if he was late on his first day back, he wouldn't hesitate to fire him then and there on the spot with the whole cafe watching.

At this point, Chan was leaning towards another job anyway, one that didn't have such a stringent and uncompromising boss. However, it was annoyingly difficult to acquire his current job so he wasn't about to quit, that would be a waste. At least if he was fired, he wouldn't regret anything, cause there's nothing he could've done about it.

Maybe break up with Lewis-

His thoughts were cut off by himself turning up the volume of Adventure Time, his favorite cartoon that always made him feel better.

Uni was another thing to worry about, they knew about chaotic student life so didn't care all too much when Chan was late for lectures or classes. Yes when it got out of hand they'd scold him, but they'd actually listen to him and take in consideration that he might be dealing with something. Which he is, he's just not telling them what he's dealing with.

The uni was a lot more lenient, and they knew that Chan was a good student, always getting stuff in on time and listening intently when he was in class, and not running and embarrassingly entering said class, making the walk of shame to the back row.

Honestly, to Chan's joy and embarrassment, he was known as the late guy. It was an ongoing joke in his uni and the teachers were so accustomed to it that they didn't bother to ask anymore, just say something along the lines of:

"Late again I see, sit down" and then proceeding to mark the chart. Yes, his professor had a chart for Chan.

It had 'Chan's Chart' written across the top in lovely calligraphy along with it being split into three sections, one saying 'Late', one saying 'On Time' and one saying 'early'.

'Late' has significantly more tally marks than any of the other two sections, and 'On Time' was shamefully lower. Let's not even talk about the fact that 'Early' has two tallies. Two. Chan had been going to uni, to that same professor, for two years, and yes the chart only started halfway through the first year, but it was still low.

To say the class was shocked when Chan arrived on time for 3 months straight (with the exception of 4 late comings) would be an understatement. As soon as he got back with Lewis again, it went downhill once more, the class coming down from the thrill of change.

He needed to vent, he didn't know what of, but he needed to rant. Rant about how he missed home, rant about how he wants to be happy, rant about Lewis.
