Scripture reference: Amos 5:14-15, 21-24

"Make it your aim to do what is right, not what is evil, so that you may live. Then the LORD God Almighty really will be with you, as you claim he is. Hate what is evil, love what is right, and see that justice prevails in the courts. Perhaps the LORD will be merciful to the people of this nation who are still left alive.
The LORD says, "I hate your religious festivals; I cannot stand them! When you bring me burnt offerings and grain offerings, I will not accept them; I will not accept the animals you have fattened to bring me as offerings. Stop your noisy songs; I do not want to listen to your harps. Instead, let justice flow like a stream, and righteousness like a river that never goes dry."

Dear God,
I have learnt from today's reading that You aren't interested in my public display of good deeds, but at my heart. Is my heart pure? Are my intentions clean? These are some of the questions I should consider before undertaking my every action!
One of the 7 woes of the Bible in Matthew 23 that Jesus used to address hypocrites was that they clean the outside of the cup and dish but on the inside are full of greed and self indulgence (Matthew 5:25). Lord, do you see my heart to be as pure as people perceive me to be by my good works or are my actions sometimes hypocritical?
In the scripture, Prophet Amos here stressed especially that for God to be gracious to everyone including myself, justice must be established in our lives at all times!
Just like Jesus said in Matthew 6:1-4, my surest way to gain my ultimate reward to be in heaven is to let my good deeds be done in private and unceasingly. May I never halt my righteous efforts even when I think they go unrewarded for You see them all!
Yours ever, your daughter💕
