As expected, Angel had gotten in trouble after Klaus finally had Kol under control and was forbidden from leaving her room, not that it stopped Angel. Every evening, when she knew the other vampires in the house were busy sucking the blood of innocent villagers, she found a way to sneak out of her room using the hidden passageway that ran past her room.
With her freedom, Angel did what she always did, which was to make her way down to the neighboring village. She made sure to stay as quiet as a mouse until reaching the village late at night, which was often filled with rowdy drunks and loud music. A small smile graced her lips as she passed by several men heading into the taverns and found herself entering the small tavern near the edge of the village.
Angel was hit with the strong smell of beer and cigars as she stepped foot inside the tavern, making her way past the rowdy customers to the corner of the room. She sunk into her seat, watching with mesmerizing eyes as men cheered, gambled, and drank more with their friends without a single care in the world.
She sighed, a small smile on her face, as she glanced around the tavern in envy. Angel wondered what it would be like to be as free and careless as the villagers but quickly shook the thought from her head, knowing her life could never be normal with a vampire father in the mix.
"Would you like a cup of water, milady?" A young tavern girl questioned Angel, pulling her attention from observing the village men.
"Some rum, please," Angel asked the younger girl with a smile.
It was odd for a young woman of obvious upper class to drink at such a tavern, Angel knew that, but while the tavern girl raised her eyebrow at the choice, she didn't comment on it as she went to fetch Angel's drink. Angel was grateful for the girl's discretionary as her eyes traveled back over the drunk men, growing rowdier by the second as they laughed, drank, and played silly games with their friends.
Angel only tore her eyes away long enough to give the tavern girl a grateful grin as she returned with her drink and made sure to give her a silver coin, far more than enough for one measly mug of rum. Angel took a small swing of rum, ignoring the way it burned in the back of her throat as she watched one of the older men fall off the table, drunk out of his mind and barely able to stand back up.
In the corner of her eye, Angel noticed a man sitting across from her seat, making himself quite comfortable much to her dismay. He opened his mouth, presumably to flirt, but was curtly cut off.
"Not interested," Angel told the man before he had a chance to utter a single sound, taking a small sip of her drink before setting it back down and continuing to look past him without a second glance.
