I wandered into class, still not convinced I had made the right decision to stick it out in band. Then Drew popped out of his seat, sax in hand, and started playing. His whole body was in motion, as if there was music in his soul. That made up my mind for me- I'd stay in band, even though Drew was a real musician and I was just a beginner.

I wandered if there was a sub-beginner category. I wondered if there was a category for people who, like myself, were toned deaf, but in love.

I blew into my clarinet but nothing came out, so i made the motions of playing while i watched Drew's miraculous concentration and brilliant smile. i practice day and night, night and day, if it would get us together!
