KIARA CARRERA HAD BEEN the best friend of Brooklyn Routledge for three years. For those three years, the two had been inseparable and after she fell out with Sarah Cameron in the tenth grade, Brooke stuck by Kiara's side throughout it. Brooklyn never had anything against Sarah and that's why she was okay with her right now. Kiara wasn't pleased that Brooklyn went to the Midsummers with Sarah but Brooklyn was trying so hard not to be against her but she still wanted to be friends with Kiara, it was just complicated. Brooklyn loved her brother more than anything and if he liked Sarah then Brooklyn didn't have anything against it, if he didn't then that was okay too but Brooklyn thought Sarah was just as incredible as Kiara.
John B drove out to The Hawks Nest which was a familiar place to Brooklyn. She used to go up to the Nest with her father. Her father used to tell her such stories up there, trying to scare his daughter but recently, she had been less afraid.
"All right."
"Hit it, boys! We're goin'. Recon mission." Pope slid open the door to let everyone out.
Before anyone could, John B had said, "Yo, uh... so, uh, I think I'm gonna do this one by myself... tonight."
"Really?"
"I just don't want to spook Sarah with the peanut gallery." Brooklyn continued to nod along, not having any big problem with it.
"I just don't understand why we're involving her at all." Kiara snapped her head to John B.
"Kie, we're not involving her, okay? It's- it's just, uh, like a- a business meeting... thing." JJ imitated a blowjob which erupted a few laughs from Pope and Brooklyn. "Look, once we get what we need, we cut her loose, all right Plus, we need the map."
"Promise me nothing's happening between you two."
"Nothing is happening, Kie." Brooklyn scoffed quietly, knowing that wasn't true.
"I'm being serious."
"Okay!"
"This isn't about you, and this isn't about us. This is about her. Dude, she's gonna get inside your head. She's already got in Brooklyn's head." Brooklyn rolled her eyes. "Just promise me nothing's happening between you guys."
"I promise."
"That was really believable." JJ chuckled.
"A hundred percent believable."
"Anyways, um... I'm gonna take care of business." John B nodded over to the others who sat agreeing to whatever he said.
