What we learnt.

A/n: I just wanted to warn anyone who reads this that this one is not intended to be anything close to a poem. I just wrote it to vent. Kind of closer to a rant. A pretty long one too.🙈😌😅

All skulls soaking ink like a sponge.
And in a large hall, draining it back
Into paper.
As sheets of parchment grow thicker,
Even if the gist of it fails to seep through.

A testament of aptitude.
But of only a single parameter.
The one that holds past in a tight chamber.

A weigh beam that assigns you a worth,
That puerile shoulders carry with them,
Sagging down everytime the scale
Falls short of making it's way to
Their small world, with big eyes.

At a time when these tender buds
Have barely started to see
We smother them with expectations
Which we know are hard to meet.

What a pity indeed !

The system that promises to open
The jejune moldable minds,
Closes all the gates to learning,
While shaping them into toys.

Wind a key, a reward at the finish line
Stack up those numbers,
And your future is sure to shine.

We will shackle you with our
Societal rules and traditions,
But only to keep you safe,
Of course what even is freedom,
If you have never been caged.

What a stupid that kiddo must be,
To think learning is the drive of it all,
Surpassing every test with flying colours,
Is the only way you can stand tall.

And even for a second,if you think
You will tread a new path,
Don't worry, we won't let you wander
On unknown streets, even if these
Four closed walls suffocate your breath,

Till you learn to adapt to the stale air.
And sadly that will be the only thing
That you will learn here.
