"Well, I get the last laugh. I haven't washed those suckers in at least two weeks." -pg. 17

Ah memories. I picked this line because it was declared on the day that Mark said was going to be "perfect." Only a few pages away, laughter will become scarce. This laugh might just be the last one to ever come out of some of their mouths.
Because it's going to get ugly.
Anyone want to guess who said this quote?

But then their laughter was cut off by a strange sound. Something Mark hadn't heard in a year, and hadn't expected to hear ever again.

The sound of engines in the sky.

You've most likely already read the previous three books in the series. It's rather obvious what the sound is coming from, although Dashner makes it so that your wonder why the noise is so surprising, so out of the ordinary. Does the sound bring fear or hope? Most likely fear, but what happened in their past that had made them so light on their feet? It's definitely a different reason for them than Thomas (Maze Runner), but... why?

Toad) "Maybe it's God inside. Come to say he's sorry for all the sun flare business."

----> Out of the current if his eye, Mark noticed Darnell taking in a breath, his mouth opening, probably to say something smart and funny back at the Toad.. -pg. 20

This just pulled me closer to Darnell even more. Good humor is the best medicine to depression, and this book is full of it. Trust me. Mark noticed him take in a breath, so it makes me wonder how good he is at facial expressions. This talent may be helpful later on in the book with detecting lies in life & death situations.

That finally snapped Mark out of it. -pg. 21

How could he just stand there in a daze while people are losing their lives in all of the hectic? I'm surprised he never got shot with one of those darts. I mean, was Darnell also in a daze when he got shot? Maybe.. Maybe not..
