wednesday afternoon eventually rolled around, and it came up so fast i swear i blinked.
i was pacing around my room, expecting to have hanamaki come over any moment now. i didn't even realize i had spaced out until i had a very annoyed hanamaki calling me.
"im at your dorm, i thought youd be waiting outside, did you really think i just magically had a key or something?? am i supposed to just, beg people from your dorm to let me in and lie about living here huh?"
"so dramatic. i'll be down in one minute." i said and i hung up, so he couldnt hear me jogging down the hall because i didnt want to keep him waiting any longer.
i eventually met him at the edge of the stairs outside, and i said "hey." i forgot to hide the fact that i was out of breath.
"did you really run all the way down here? dork."
i held the door for him and he said, "what a gentleman."
"ladies first."
he took the journal he had clutched in his right hand and bonked me on the head with it.
"do that again and im pushing you down the stairs."
"try it." he says as he jogs up the stairs trying to get ahead of me.
"well im walking. my room is on the top floor so go on and tire yourself out."
he slowed down and waited for me to catch up. we walked side by side up the stairs. i was doing so well keeping my composure, until our hands accidentally brushed together and suddenly, anxiety has entered the chat. i felt like the next time id speak id be a stuttering mess, cause all my brain chose to focus on was how warm and soft his hands were and that i wouldn't mind maybe one day getting to hold them.
"my room is at the end of the hall so, were gonna have to walk quite a bit."
"wow, i feel like im back in highschool, this hallway looks just like the one i had, and these classroom tiles on the floor? low budget much?" the pink haired boy says.
"what, do you live on the new side of campus? pretentious asshole" i jab him with my elbow.
"i do. honestly, its gonna be enlightening seeing how the other half lives."
"it isnt THAT bad." for the sake of winning the argument, i didnt care to elaborate on the way that these old dorms had a recurring mold problem and lack of elavators and outdated furniture and that there was always something wrong with the stove in the common area.
we got to my room and upon seeing its a single, hanamaki says, "oh shoot, forgot to ask if you had a roommate. but i guess that doesnt matter now. sweet. howd you get a single?"
"luck i guess. and ive got a backup doctors note in case anyone of authority asks why im here."
"whats it for?"
"im allergic to people apparently." i say, also not willing to go into the fact that it was really for anxiety and depression, honestly, name a more iconic duo. i didnt want pity nor did i want him to know anything about that right now.
"youre such a dork." he laughs half-heartedly.
i decided to sit down at my desk and i pulled my computer onto my lap and swiveled my chair around to face him. "so what do you need help with?"
"well first off can i see the questions you jerk. youre making me feel like im at the doctors office or something."
he gets his notebook and i pull up the questions.
