Chapter 2

Kenzie

A sudden brightness and someone, who sounds very much like lauren, shouting "WAKE UP IT'S TIME FOR SCHOOL" gets me up today.

"Aghhh 5 more minutes please~" I groan dragging out the 'e'.

I hear lauren sigh before very calmly stating "no can do. you have 10 minutes until we're late and mr buxley will be in our pants about why we're late then we'll get a detention and mom will have a right go at us when we get back then-"

Cutting out her rambling, "ok ok i'm up now get out of my room so I can get ready"

"good" she mutters before adding in a very childish tone "jOhnNy's driving us to school todayy."

See, lauren thinks i have this huge crush on johnny which might be a teeny tiny bit true but that doesn't matter anyways because he definitely doesn't like me in that way.

"Lauren! You know I don't think of him like that, plus we're practically siblings and that would be incest" I say while faking gagging slightly.

"Sure sure whatever you say" I hear until she finally leaves the room and let's me get ready in peace.

I change into black high-waisted jeans and a beige off-the-shoulder knitted sweater and a black belt to finish it off.

I put my hair into a messy bun because I really don't give a shit when it comes to 'looking good for school.'

Walking downstairs, I grab a protein bar and a bottle of water before making my way into the backseat of johnny's oh so dear white Range Rover.

"Looking good Kenz." Johnny compliments me with his husky deep voice.

Out of the corner of my eyes I see lauren smirking at me.

I roll my eyes at her before replying to john "why thank you, wish I could say the same about you" while looking him up and down pretending to be disgusted.

He puts his hand to his heart and makes a fake pouty face.

We make eye contact and for a minute I think he felt that same fluttery feeling in his stomach as I do every time I see him.

"Oi eyes on the road please sir" lauren reminds him but doesn't forget to also say "as much as I like my jenzie moments, i'm too young and beautiful to die."

"What's a jenzie?" Johnny asks

Lauren doesn't get to answer because before we know if we've arrived at the place we call school.

We get out of the car and walk over to our friend group that consists of hayden summerall - total douchebag, super full of himself, pussy hopper -, brynn rumfallo - blondie, sarcastic as fuck, rude but only if you're rude first -, carson lueders - dumbass,  gets along with everyone, dad jokes 101.

"BRYNNIEEE" me and lauren both squeal as we run to our beloved brynnieboo.

"KENZIS, LOLO!!!" brynn squeals back as we leap into her arms.

"You guys literally saw each other last night" hayden deadpans.

"Well I love my brynnie and lolo so you can go take your opinion and shove it up carson's ass" I jokingly retort.

"Woah woah woah no one's shoving nothing up my ass thank you very much" carson says a little too seriously.

"Don't worry no one's doing and ass shoving, right kenzie" johnny emphasises my name.

"Yeah yeah whatever" I roll my eyes.

"You sure do roll your eyes a lot" lauren tells me.

The bell rings indicating 5 minutes until we're supposed to be in lesson.

"Let's go before mr buxley starts getting his irrelevant nose into our business on why we're late" brynn sighs.

At lunch

I grab my lunch before walking over to the table my friends and I usually sit at.

Lauren whispers to me "did you hear, emily skinner is back".

"WHAT" I shout, way too loudly as I stand up and everyone stares at me.

I awkwardly sit back down and say a lot quieter to lauren "when?"

"Uhh don't look now but look behind you" lolo tells me with a shocked ass look on her face.

I slowly turn around and as I do I see the face of someone I thought I'd never have to see again.
