It was a quiet evening in the food city, shops were beginning to close down for the night, which was normal except for on Saturdays, where the shops stay open for another few hours. Many people were walking around still as tonight was a good night for a stroll. A very light wind flowed through the city, making everything the slightest bit cold. Not to mention all the brightly lit buildings made the city still feel and look lively to the citizens. On this night, a well known childish man was sitting at his table, using some colourful balls of yarn he bought earlier that day to make bracelets for his friends and family. Seeing as he had bought so much yarn, he may as well make lots of bracelets to go around, he's even making some for his friends parents cause he has so much wool. This man was known as Apple. He was a newcomer to this city, a very kind newcomer. Apple was currently in the middle of making a bracelet for his mother, it was striped with a light pink and light blue as those were her favourite colours. Making the bracelets wasn't very hard, he just had to use a needle to sew the strands of yarn together and into a pattern. Just as he was finishing up the bracelet, his phone started to ring from on the couch. Apple looked back as the phone, and seen that the caller was labeled as "Mom and Dad". "Oh!" He said upon seeing who was calling. He gently placed the nearly done bracelet and the needle on the table before he got up and quickly walked over to the couch. He picked up his phone, and stared at it as he began to walk the other way again. Just as he arrived back at the table, he answered answered it. Almost as soon as Apple answered his phone, a cheery male voice spoke to him, a very familiar voice. "Apple, my boy! What are you up to?" The male asked over the phone. There was something in his voice that comforted Apple a lot, Apple grew up with the sound of the voice. "Not much, dad! I'm making something you and mum!" Apple replied as he put the phone into speaker mode, and placed it onto the table to continue sewing the bracelet together. Apple wasn't able to see his parents very often as he had to take a somewhat expensive train ride out of the city and to where they live, which is on a field. Apples dad let out a chuckle. "May you tell me what's you're making, King Apple?" He asked in a noble sounding tone. That's something Apple loved about this dad: his sense of humour. Apples dad was a very loving and cheery guy when he isn't angry, which is almost never. "Sorry dad, I'll mail it out to you in the morning." Apple said as he grabbed the final loose strand of yarn and sewed it in place. It made a very nice bracelet, the contrast of the colours almost made the bracelet look lavender. Apple was sure his mom was going to love it. Then that brought on another thought in Apples head. "So, dad. Where's mum?" Apple asked before placing the needle down on the table and getting up. He walked over to the counter and looked up, wondering what he should eat. "Your mom is out working still, she had to take a late shift for a coworker." Apples dad explained in a quite bored tone. The thought of jobs was boring to him, he found them a bit of a waste of time. He didn't have a job. Instead, he grew crops and went out every day to sell them. That's something he found a bit fun as he could make new friends that way. "Ooh, I see." Apple said to the phone as he got up on the counter and opened the cupboard. There wasn't many sweet things in the house currently cause Onion, Apples best friend, knew Apple would become a psycho if he had the smallest dose of candy. "Well, I just wanted to check in on you, talk to my son, stuff like that. I was getting lonely." Apples dad explained to Apple before he let out a long yawn. It was 10:00 at night, of course somebody his age would be tired. Apple was crawling through the cupboards as his dad said that, he was still looking for something to snack on. Finally, Apple found something he thought he could snack on, but it would be considered strange. It was salt. Salt is something Apple liked the flavour of, but didn't really enjoy the taste of it alone. Soon, he climbed out of the cupboard and back to the floor after closing the cupboard doors. "I just want to know something, dad. What are your favourite colours again?" Apple said as he gazed at the salt container, then at the yarn on the table. "My favourite colours? Rainbow!" Apples dad answered enthusiastically. Apple soon arrived at the table with the salt in hand, and he placed the container down. He once again looked at the remaining colours of wool, the entire rainbow was there except for purple, I guess his dad would have to go without it. Apple began to pour a bit of salt onto his tongue, and a few seconds into tasting it, he stuck out his tongue and made a disgusted face. "Yuck!" He said loud enough for the phone to pick his voice up. "What happened?" His dad asked. First, Apple was confused, then realized that his dad heard what he said. "Oh, sorry dad. I was eating salt and it tasted gross." Apple replied as he spat into his cup to remove the taste. "Apple, salt isn't good for you... that's why you should eat as much of it as you can." Apples dad encouraged Apple to eat really unhealthy, he was extremely childish, so he didn't really like vegetables. Just as Apple got up from the table to put the salt away, he tripped over the long TV wire and fell to the floor. Apple let out no screams as he fell, and only groaned after a few seconds on the floor. "What was that??" He heard his dad ask on the phone. "Nothing. I just tripped. He said as he slowly got up and adjusted his leaf. As he was done that, he looked at the table and saw that the salt had spilled all over every bracelet, including the yarn. "Gah!" Apple gasped as he seen the mess. He quickly began to clean up the salt, and shook off every bracelet that had been dusted with salt. "What happened now? I heard a bang." Apples dad started to grow concerned for Apple, he knew how his kid could be, and showed a lot of concern whenever he hears something off. "I spilled salt all over the things I'm making." Apple said as he put all the salt in a pile and swept it into his right hand. Just as he began to walk off to put the salt in the garbage, he tripped on another wire, and made a really loud Bang! Noise. This time, Apple did scream as he fell, but only cause it was so surprising. "Apple, you're starting to scare me!" Apples dad said in a concerned tone. "I tripped on another wire, don't worry!" Apple shouted at the phone as he began to get up. Now there was salt all over the floor, but it scattered everywhere, and couldn't be seen. Looking down at the floor, Apple began to feel a bit frustrated, everything was somehow against him, and he hoped nothing else would go wrong. Of course something else went wrong like in those comedy TV shows. As he stared at he floor, a mirror from the wall was hanging from a single nail, and soon fell down and onto the table, where the bracelets were. "Woah!!" Apple yelped out of surprise. Before his dad could react in a negative way, he quickly ran over and turned off the phone. After that, he looked at the new mess on the table. Now he had to pick all of the glass shards out of the bracelets, which could take half an hour or more, and he still had to make another bracelet. With his rage nearly to its brim, Apple picked up the mirror to see the mess of glass shards that had scattered across the table and bit down hard. There was shards everywhere, and he had to clean the mess before Onion got back home, which was most likely in 10 minutes. Apple gave the most menacing look he could give at the mess, as if that would solve anything, it was just wasting time. Suddenly, a sharp pain began to come into Apples brain, his eyes specifically. Even though the pain was so bad, he couldn't pull himself to stop glaring, even though he wanted to. The pain soon went away as quick as it appeared, and Apple was confused at first, but then realized there was somebody else in the room now. "Apple? What's with the mess?" He heard a familiar nerdy voice say from behind him. Apple turned around slowly, and soon seen his best friend, Onion standing there with a somewhat surprised but angry look on his face. "I was trying to make something for you and everybody... and I kept tripping over the TV wire." Apple was pretty guilty because of the mess he had made, and calmly explained what had happened to Onion, who he knew would understand. Onion then put on a small smile, and held out his arms. "Oh, Apple... it's alright, I'll help clean up." He said before walking over to Apple and wrapping his warm arms around his friend. Apple seemed to hesitate to hug at first, but slowly leaned in too, he felt very relieved that Onion wasn't too angry. "Now what were you making?" Onion asked abruptly, when he spoke, it spooked Apple a tiny bit. "Here, I'll give it to you." Apple struggled away from Onion, and quickly went over to the table. In the pile of broken mirror shards and yarn, there was a single bracelet Apple had made specifically for Onion, it was the best looking out of all of the bracelets, and took the longest to make. The three colours Apple chose to make the bracelet with was red, green, and white to symbolize his and Onions friendship. The bracelet conveniently was on top of the pile, so Apple picked it up and picked out the few mirror shards in it and shook it off so Onion wouldn't get hurt while putting it on. "Here." He walked over to Onion again, and gently handed the bracelet to him, Onion put on a smile as he seen the bracelet. After a few seconds of staring at it, Onion put it on and hugged Apple again. "You're very thoughtful." He spoke in a soft and comforting tone, and soon felt Apple hug back. In their friendship, Onion has learned that Apple is a bit like a child, and can't be blamed for most of the things he does cause he was only trying to help. Onion understood Apple on a really deep level, and shared secrets nobody else, not even his parents, have heard. After putting on the bracelet, however, Onion felt an odd throbbing feeling come from the hand he had put the bracelet on, and a trace of a pain in his chest. That was the only weird thing about this bracelet. So far, at least.
