Connor's POV
Lieutenant and Detective Anderson have arrived at the front of a convenience store. I wasn't given any orders, so I got out of Lieutenant Anderson's car and stood at the door, arms folded in front of me as I fixated on nothing in particular.
"We've got officers sweeping the entire neighborhood, in case anyone saw anything." I heard someone say.
"Alright, well let me know if they turn anything up," I heard Lieutenant talking to the officer.
"What are you gonna do with that?" I reckoned they were talking about me. I wasn't given the order to talk so I didn't say anything. I decided to go over the facts.
There is an AX400 loose in Ravendale district, last spotted on the cameras of the convenience store. I went through the footage again. It walked in with a girl and started talking to the human cashier. They walked around and while no one was looking, hid a pair of pliers in her pocket, and both of them ran out.
Carlos Ortiz's android. An HK400 model had acted irrationally and was driven by "fear". He stabbed Ortiz twenty-eight times before fleeing to the attic, due to the fact he had nowhere to go and was lost. This AX400 seemed to take a different route and drove from 4203 Harrison Street Corktown, Detroit all the way down to Ravendale district. It took about a thirty-minute drive by bus and stayed until the last stop. It was driven by fear as well but in a different way. They are lost due to the fact they have no one to listen to. In conclusion, a mutation occurs in the software of the androids, which can lead them to emulate human emotion. There's nothing that ties these deviants together. But there has to be a link, I'm sure of it.
Puma's POV
"What are you gonna do with that?" a police officer asked, looking at Connor.
"I have no idea..." the three of us looked at Connor, who was standing completely still beside the car, staring straight ahead of him. "But Puma seems to like him." He smirked at me as I rolled my eyes.
"It took the first bus that came along... and stayed until the end of the line." Connor stated, finally speaking up. "Its decision wasn't planned, it was driven by fear."
"Androids don't feel fear," Dad said, confused.
"Deviants do." Connor pointed out. "They get overwhelmed by their emotions to make irrational decisions."
"Ah, well that still doesn't tell us where it went."
"It didn't have a plan, and it had nowhere to go." Connor side-glanced at an abandoned building. "Maybe it didn't go far."
"Ugh, if only it weren't so cold!" I couldn't contain myself any longer. "I'll be at the bus stop."
"No, Lia, you aren't going anywhere. It's your fault you didn't bring a jacket," Dad said to me, pulling me back.
"She can have mine-"
"She appreciates the offer but no," Dad said. I let out a huff.
"Lieutenant, I must insist. It is November sixth, on a rainy day, I would imagine it to be quite cold. Puma's temperature is ninety-four degrees Fahrenheit, 35 degrees Celsius. This states Detective Puma is suffering from first-stage hypothermia, which causes shivering, reduced circulation, and lack of coordination. May I please lend Puma my jacket?"
Dad and I both stared at Connor as he took off his jacket and slipped it onto me.
"I- I don't have hypothermia, that- that's not possible!" I laughed but took Connors' jacket.
"I'm afraid it's possible. It's the lowest stage so it's not life-threatening, and probably the reason why you nor Lieutenant noticed.
"Alright, I don't need you diagnosing my daughter. You are a deviant hunter," Dad said and pulled me toward him.
