i just gave up, eventually.

You were someone I trusted

You were someone I loved

You were someone I miss.

I missed when you were good, not when you became bored with me

I missed you for the person I wanted you to stay, but you changed

So I grew up.

Your friendship was heavy now, weighing down on every discussion

every time I tried to fix the break in us.

There was always something so bad about the way that you were now, making excuses so many excuses about how you were tired and how you felt bored

so BORED.

I gave up competing for you

I gave up what could have changed in time

Best of all, I gave up my friend.

The friend who was always going to be with HER

always going to like her better

always going to point and laugh and

LIE.

And I can't remember if you cried at all, when we were no more.

I'm willing to bet my last ounce of respect for you

that you didn't.

I'm glad I gave you up.
