"Wren! Get to your station! They need you." I hear my boss yell out to me from down the hall. I responded with, "Alrighty sir!" I spin out of my chair and scurry my way out of the cafeteria. After about a minute, I got into the office that I was going to be working in for awhile. It's only temporary for now due to the fact that I don't have my own work area yet. I open the door to the office and in there, stands a tall, slim and well-defined man. He doesn't seem to be much older than me. I notice that I've zoned out in thought and caught myself staring at him. He glances back towards me and gives me a slight small though awkward grin with his dimples suddenly becoming visible. He reaches to shake my hand as he says, "Hey there. The name's Jay. And what should I call you?" I shake my head slightly to snap back into reality and practically jump to shake his hand. "Call me Wren."

Jay and I sit down and get right into reviewing some cases that we were going to be taking on as a challenge. I guess this is the way they train me to get used to the difficulties of being a part of the police force. Jay continuously scrolls through the computer files as he is leaning on his cheek on the top of his fist, slouched and sitting there with an inattentive expression. "What are we going to be getting ourselves into today..." Jay expresses in a monotone voice. My eyes follow through the documents as he's speedily scrolling through the browser. "How about you get the choice Wren?" I jolt my head in his direction and my eyes widen as I too quickly have the words come out of my mouth. "Yes! Though you should make sure that it will be a challenge for us to go through. I've finished my field training program so I'm all ready to go.

After about twenty minutes of pacing through the files relentlessly searching for a worthy case, my eyes graze over the text "The Raven." It had sparked my interest so I started up by saying, "Jay, what would we be doing within this case?" My face mellows out into a frown and I look at him in pure curiosity. He turns his head to me with a slight grimace in his expression as he explains, "It is a really difficult case that absolutely none of the other police have not been able to crack which makes this case intimidating. All of the police that had their chance at the case were all very experienced." I notice his facial expression shift as soon as he speaks with a tinge of worry in his voice, "Considering I'm a third year in the force and this is your first, we may just be getting in the way of getting a solution to it. Though if that is what you want to do, I'll have a word with the boss." I feel a sudden burst of pure ambition and spit out, "We're going to take on the challenge."

*10 minutes later*

I spin in my chair while fidgeting with my fingertips in wonder of if we're going to get permission to go through with the plan. The door creaks open and makes a snap sound when it clicks into place when it's shut. Jay strolls into the room with an assuring smile on his face as he gets into his chair. "Wren, we are doing it. But-" I interrupted him without processing that I was cutting him off and practically sounding like a child as I loudly say, "Yes!" It becomes silent for a moment but then he begins to chuckle. I express ecstatically, "What? I got too over the top, didn't I?" He concludes, "Only a little bit. But as I was saying, we are going to have a detective on our side throughout the mission. Her name is Maggie and she is conducting research in her office on the case as we speak. We will be searching for evidence and witnesses of the crimes that the Raven has committed tonight and continuing our processes tomorrow." I gleam with a smile on my face that is reaching from ear to ear. "Let's take the Raven down a peg! Let's go right now Jay!" I notice Jay's face lights up in even more humour. He speaks in a humorous tone with a sly smirk on his lip, "Well don't you want to know what the Raven has done in the first place to be getting chased after by us, Wren?" I slouch back into my chair and fold my arms together with a pout on my face and look Jay straight into his eyes as I sigh in defeat and exclaim, "Hmph. I guess so. Despite the fact that we better get out there as soon as we can!"

Jay and I go onto our computers and begin our search on all of the possible information we can get on the Raven. I mutter to myself as I write in a report, "Hmm. No description of physical looks except for the outfit they wear. The Raven wears a heavy black wool cloak among a black mask that appears to look like a Raven's head. They really stick to their alter ego name of the Raven." Jay rolls his chair over to mine and as he peers at my notes as he tells me, "Apparently the Raven has left behind various murders. We scanned the fingerprints, though no one in our system is matched to it. It must mean that they desired to leave behind the evidence of their intent without leaving their trace on it. It's as if whoever the Raven is, wants to leave behind these subtle hints but won't ever come through to reveal themselves. They have been previously in jail for being convicted of homicide of 10 people, which is 100% an indictable offence, identity theft of several people's identification cards, and fraud with the public causing many people to lose their property locally. It has been over a course of 3 years that the Raven has been committing these crimes. My jaw drops as I process all of the information that he's gathered in such a small amount of time. "The Raven has also abetted their partners in crime to suicide. The accused is just making their situation so much worse than it has to be. The Raven sure is lucky to be living in the country of Canada or else they would be facing capital punishment in various other regions of the world. Ahh! It says here that they are potentially a female. They must've heard it through the voice of the criminal."

Jay looks at me with his eyes locked to mine in what seems to be questioning. I mutter, "I'm not sure, But it must have been horrible to have it where she is now. But she for sure will not be able to use her life story as an efficient defence for all of these offences. We have all the evidence that we can know for now to use against her when we get a grasp of her in court." Jay rolls his chair back over to his desk and continues to write out his report as I write out mine.
