The Perfect Serve

{chapter 6}

That night Yua had been laying wide awake, thinking about Tendou's words.

"So... when's the second date?"

Yua couldn't help but to grab at her chest as her heart beat fast, remembering what had happened after he said that to her.

Earlier that day..

Yua blushed at his words, finding it a little hard to contain the happiness she felt.
"U-Uhm.. I mean.. I'm free this Saturday.. and I heard there's a movie in the park event happening a few blocks from here... w-we could go.. unless.. y-you wouldn't want to.."
Tendou flashed her a smile, pulling his hand away from the top of her head and leaning against the door frame.
"I think it's a great idea. I have practice around 3... so maybe you could swing by and we can go from there? We can grab snacks at the school store before we leave, so we have something to snack on during the movie. How does that sound to you?" Yua nodded happily towards Tendou. That did sound like a good idea. She could see him in action while practicing, and she got a cute date out of it.
"S-Sounds.. good to me.." Glancing down at her watch, Yua realized that it was getting late. She said her goodbyes to Tendou and walked off. He stood outside of his home, watching her as she walked out of his sight to make sure she felt a bit more safe.

As Yua laid in bed and thought about her date, she couldn't help but to panic a little bit. What was she going to wear? She wanted to make a good impression. Deciding that she would enlist the help of her friends, she sent the group chat a text.

yuuuu_a_04: ｡ﾟ(ﾟ'Д｀ﾟ)ﾟ｡ SOS !!

hiya_mi: what's wrong? are you okay ??

kant.sumi_01: we've told you a hundred times to stop eating peanut butter out of the jar because it makes your hands sticky! do you listen? nO~

yuuuu_a_04: it's not that this time!! I have a date with tendou on Saturday ㅠㅠ

hiya_mi: and... you're in trouble how?

yuuuu_a_04: i don't know what to wear (°▽°)

kant.sumi_01: lolol okay simple answer, you guys come over to my place @ 1 and I'll help you get dressed

yuuuu_a_04: THANK YOU!!!!

With that plan sealed in, Yua spent the next few days gradually glamming herself up by doing various masks and other forms of self care to prep for her date. Yua even invited her friend Momoka, whom had been busy with clubs for the last week, to the dress up event with Kasumi and Hayami. When Saturday finally came around, Yua woke up and got dressed sloppily, knowing her friends would help her out. Heading over to Kasumi's place, she ran into Momoka— who was also on her way to Kasumi's.
"Hey! It's nice to see you. How have you been? I know you've been caught up with club activities.." Yua smiled to her friend, joining her side. Momoka returned her friend's smile, speaking up.
"I've been well! I'm sorry we haven't talked much but.. I'm glad that we can reconnect like this! S-So uhm.. how's.. your brother?" Momoka asked, a blush coming to her cheeks. She had a crush on her brother's best friend, who was also her friend's younger brother. It was a sticky situation, but it was the one she dealt with.
"He's fine.. though Momoka, I don't even know why you bother anymore. You know that he's head over heels for Kiyoko.." Yua sighed softly, patting her friend on the shoulder. Momoka had liked Nishinoya for years, but ever since he met Kiyoko, he had forgotten all about her.
"It'll be okay though. He'll come around."
Yua gave her friend a reassuring smile as they arrived at the Ootori residence. Knocking on the door and being let inside, Yua was greeted with a familiar face... and a not so familiar one.
"Wakatoshi? What are you doing here?" Yua was surprised to see the tall, brown haired guy from before in her friend's home. Kasumi spoke up, poking the boy's arm with a smile.
"This guy here was sent over by your red headed cutie to help out! Well, not really but he thought since it would be his friend's first real date, that he might as well help out a little."
Yua was surprised to hear that such a quiet and... kinda scary guy wanted to help her out for this date. Though, it just showed her that he was more than his looks, and that the two of them must've been very good friends.
"I-I see! Well.. thank you. I appreciate it a lot."
Before she could even start talking to Ushijima at all, Kasumi, Momoka and Hayami grabbed Yua by the arms and dragged her up to Kasumi's room, where they all started to throw her into different outfits. Ushijima stayed outside as to not breach any privacy.
The girls had put Yua in multiple outfits, ranging from a full monochrome outfit, to even pushing her into different aesthetics. Though, considering it was a bit of a picnic in the park/movie date, they decided on putting her in light blue, flowy sundress with short, white heels and various gold accessories. They did her hair so it was down and slightly curled, and her makeup to be subtle, yet still pink. When she was done getting changed, it had seemed that the time to meet up with Tendou was nearing closer and closer.
"Shoot.. I'm going to be late. I've got to go. Thanks guys!" As Yua got up and started to gather her things, Kasumi piped up.
"Are you sure you don't need a jacket? I heard it's going to get pretty chilly tonig—" Kasumi got cut off by a laugh coming from Yua, who was brushing off her statement.
"I'll be fine. What's the worst that can happen?"
After she got her things together, she left Kasumi, Hayami, Momoka and Ushijima to stay behind at Kasumi's house to spend time getting to know Ushijima.
When Yua arrived at the gates of Shiritorizawa and saw Tendou— who's back was turned to her— she went to run up to him. Though, she stopped in her tracks when she saw he was talking to a girl. That girl was grabbing onto his arm, tugging him close.
"What...?"
