I tickle her and she giggles
Her cheeks form a dimple
And I think,
I think of -
How I must have been cheery as an infant
How I must have smiled without worry
And sleep and milk were all that mattered
And I whisper to the baby
"Smile now, but do you know life isn't fair?"
"Do you know challenges await you?"
"Do you know there are other problems aside soiled diapers?"
She giggles some more
And I sigh
I'm jealous
