It's been three weeks and he's a pretty good worker. I had been getting more customers and such while he fixes or modifies vehicles. Sometimes he is on his laptop while blasting music and working on new ideas for the place. I have taken the time to regain more health and I find myself feeling so much better when he is around. I never heard a complain or anything. I paid him extra. But it was hard to when he refused extra. He said it comes from the heart when you help someone and that I don't need to do things for him like that.
"Venge, what's that short for?" I ask while we eat dinner. He doesn't say anything but chew slower. Was it a touchy subject? I ignore it and try to ask something else.
"Its my nickname." Is all he says. I feel his eyes on me but I'm looking away. He always seems to watch me for a while and I try to ignore it. It's weird yet nice. I hate it.
I cleaned the dishes and he helped without me ever asking. Soon he was placing them in the cupboards as I heard the bell ring. The one that says someone needs a job done on their vehicle. This time it's for a paint job. Venge washes his hands and walks out the door and I can hear his boots on the steps as they get further away. I look out the window to the inside of the garage and see it's some random woman. I see she is beautiful. Maybe he would flirt with her? And I think to myself. Why would this bother me? Like at all? I scold myself and tend to my appointment books. The pages are filled. The next three people should show up within the next two hours. I also wonder how much of the word got out that the trucks are still operating? I still hold races but I havent seen Venge try any of them since he started working. He makes it seem like he wants to work on things all the time. I don't mind but I have to wonder if he is the one over working? I offer him help. Since I usually take over on the engines for him. Or I do the cleaning. I even offer tips when I know hes tired. He brightens up and looks at me briefly without a word. I get shy and do something else at that point.
I came down stairs to the garage and sat by his 1977 Chevrolet Malibu. Its sleek indigo blue color was nice. It matched his eyes and hair. I found it odd to be my favorite colors. I moved away slowly as I noticed Venge was explaining to her the variety she had for colors on her fancy Bently. She was agreeing with his words and I didn't mean to see that but her delicate hand touched his slightly. The intimitacy was rare to see. But he seemed to curl his fingers into a fist then quickly he crossed his arms and leaned back. She laughed at something he said and got a little closer. He brushed that off and started walking around the vehicle examining something before his eyes met mine. I smiled cautiously and decided to leave them be.
I headed to the front of the garage and the heat was killing me already. I was so cooped up inside the cool air of my place that I decided maybe I should take my dad's truck out later for a spin on the tracks. But I decided not to when I felt a hand on my shoulder. I closed my eyes calming myself from jumping away.
"So how do you feel about going out on the town tonight?" Venge offered. I moved farward a little so his hand slipped off my shoulder and turned to him, "why don't you feel like racing?" I challenged him. I never noticed before but he had a scar on his jawline. Just barely able to see unless his head is tilted which it was because he was looking up ahead at the sand storm that was coming.
"In this coming weather?" He smirked. "So daring." I dropped my smile and forgot the storm. "Oh never mind. I forgot about that for a second." My thoughts scrambling now for answers. He walked past me and ruffled my hair. I quickly turned to him and threw sand that I picked up. A handful hitting his back as he stood there. Slowly he turned around. I felt my cheeks redden when I saw his eyes. He grinned and started after me. I quickly turned and tried to run but his hands were already around my waist. Squeezing me lightly. I have no idea why but I squirmed against him as he laughed. The sudden contact was a little exciting and how his touch felt like electricity against my skin. He said something about dragging me to the car and we go get something quick to eat tonight. I just pushed him away and warned him about contact. He raised a brow and his hands in defense. "Okay, okay." He put his hands in his pockets and headed back to the garage. I heard the next person drive up and I hoped nobody saw us.
