The rain comes down, not in sheets, but in thick, woolly blankets.
It's endless,
pounding and thudding rhythmically
against the rooftops
of the houses neighboring ours.
you lie beside me: still, quiet.
breathing
each breath is a gasp and each gasp is a wish for a dream I'll never hear about
for the dreams you keep hidden during the night, locked tight in a corner of your mind I'm afraid I'll never get to know.
you're a mystery
and yet I always knew you would be -
even before I met you I knew, I knew you'd be a mystery
I always fall in love with mysteries.
