"Jack..Jack...time to wake up.." A gentle voice said to a half-conscious Jack. Jack twitched and cracked open an eye to see his older sister Bailey, who was starting to get mad that he wasn't waking up, "JACK!" She yelled, making his heart leap in his chest and jumpstart him awake,

"WHAT?!" He snapped back, sitting up and rubbing his eyes.

"It's time to go to school." She replied, looking at her long fake nails that were painted light blue, as if she was looking for any nails that had chipped even the slightest bit. Jack groaned and flopped back down onto the bed,

"Five more minutes." He mumbled. His sister scoffed,

"Five more minutes and you're going to make us LATE!" She turned on the lights making him yelp, "mom is making me drive you today, she had to work double shifts today. Now HURRY UP WE'RE WAITING ON YOU!!!" She opened the door, tossed her hair over her shoulder and slammed the door behind herself. Jack rolled his eyes and fell out of bed. He got ready and trudged downstairs. He saw Bailey standing with her twin sister, Hailey by the door, looking at their phones and scrolling through their latest social media feed. Jack grabbed a granola bar and walked up to them while putting on his back pack.

"Are you finally ready?!" Bailey asked in a sassy tone.

"Let's just go." Jack said in a small, annoyed, voice, pushing past his two older sisters and opening the front door. He felt the cool fall breeze blow through his hair as he walked down the front steps of his house. The air felt crisp as he walked over to his sister's car that was parked in the driveway. Leaves of all colors drifted off of the large oak tree that sat in his front yard and littered the grass. His whole neighborhood was decorated for Halloween the next day. Spiderwebs covered front porches. Little blow-ups of mummies and spiders sat in lawns, and jack-o-lanterns sat on the front steps, waiting to be lit. Jack saw he was about to step on a nice, orange leaf and heard the satisfying crunch. The bright sun was masked with clouds that covered the sky like a blanket. Jack hopped into the backseat, Bailey got in the driver's seat and Hailey was in the passenger seat.

"Ready?" Bailey asked Jack in the back. Before he could answer, she turned on the car, threw it into reverse and flew out of the driveway, not even checking if any cars were coming behind her. Jack quickly put on his seatbelt to avoid being thrown around like a piece of luggage. They arrived at school and Bailey swerved into a parking spot and shut off the car. "We're here." Bailey informed Jack who was unbuckling his seatbelt.

"I can see that." Jack mumbled, grabbing his bag.

"What was that?" Bailey demanded, looking back at Jack who was opening the car door,

"Nothing!" Jack replied, shutting the door behind himself and walking up to the front of the school. Bailey and Hailey got out of the car, got their bags and walked after Jack into the large school full of people. They lived in a small town, so the high school and middle school were combined. Jack ran up the steps and walked through the doors. He weasled himself past the crowd of high schoolers that were blocking the hallway and saw one of his friends standing at their locker. "Hey Sam!" Jack greeted Sam, walking up to him. Sam shut his locker and noticed Jack,

"Sup Jack." Sam said, patting Jack's back.

"Where's everybody else?" Jack asked.

"Already in class," Sam informed, "they didn't even bother to wait for us."

Jack scoffed in a sarcastic way, "How RUDE!" They both laughed and headed off to class. They walked into class and saw that all of their friends were already sitting at their desk quietly chatting and drawing with each other. A girl named Milly was the first to spot them,
