Finding home

Land we reach,
All beyond dreams,
Trickling sparks of pleasure,
Paint the landscape of our enormous grin,
Head collapsing against familiar comfort,
We watch carefully,
As the bright blistering orb descends,
Into the farthest thin line of horizon.

We gaze at passing memory,
Greeting them with fondest smile,
Pressing the distance away,
Freezing night breeze,
Begin nipping at our senses,
Sending away our fright and fear.

Just the two of us,
Safe and sound,
Warm and sated,
Relishing picture perfect sky above our head,
Glistening with dazzling little twinkles,
With ease our lashes flitted about,
Accepting defeat from weariness.

After all,
We have come far from where we begin,
And further into what tomorrow holds.

But for now,
Let the soothing night take us,
Away into colourful impossible,
Far off from yesterday,
Tuck within restful slumber,
Serenity and calmness,
Suffused the air,
Leaving behind two worn out adventurer,
Sleeping well and refresh,
Ready to set forth eagerly at the crack of dawn,
Open sea and mighty summit,
Awaits those longing eyes,
For a journey worth a lifetime.
