Marinette's POV:
Adrien leaned in and looked at me adoringly. "Marinette, you're the most beautiful girl in the entire universe.."
"Wow, thank you, Adrien," I breathlessly replied. Then Adrien stepped closer to me and ...
"MARINETTE, WAKE UP NOW!" Tikki screamed into my ear.
I groggily sat up and streched. "What, Adrien?"
"I'm not Adrien."
Ugh, not another dream about Adrien. But he's so perfect - athletic, charming, handsome, everything. Still, we were in the middle of something in my totally amazing dream. I started daydreaming again and lay on the bed once more, a dreamy look on my face.
Tikki huffed, annoyed. "Marinette!" She called urgently. "Adrien just said 'yes' to Chloe's proposal!"
Snapping back to reality, I panicked, "Whaaaat?!" I imagined them holding hands and chatting and laughing and I was invisible. I looked outside frantically, but nobody was there and no Chloe or Adrien. I breathed a sigh of relief. That trick works like a charm.
I quickly made my bed, brushed my teeth, skipped breakfast, packed my bag and ran the whole way to school, Tikki snugly inside my bag. Maybe I was running at the speed of wind because I was going to be late for school, but maybe it was because when Chloe and Adrien are gazing into each other's eyes I can convince Adrien that Chloe is no good. Then we would get married and have three kids and a hamster or something! But no cats. I really don't like cats. Ick!
As I told this to Tikki, she shook her adorable little head and said, "Oh, boy."
---
I flung open the door and panted. "Morning, Miss Bustier!" I managed, then slid into the seat next to Alya.
I was in such a hurry I didn't turn to look at her. "Hey. Adrien and Chloe didn't get married or anything, right? Just checking."
Silence.
I slowly turned and to my upmost horror, Adrien was in Alya's seat!
He guffawed. "What do you mean, Marinette? We did no such thing."
My face felt hot and my words came out in a tumble. "I-I mean, sorry! I meant t-to tell Alya... where is ... she?" I mentally screamed. When can I learn to say a proper sentence without stuttering for once?
"Didn't you know? Our seating position changed!"
That's when I turned around and saw Nathaniel and Sabrina, Alya and Nino, Mylene and Ivan, Chloe and Kim, Juleka and Rose and Max. Woah! It completely changed. I'm glad Lila isn't here.
Just then, Lila strutted in, her high heels clicking and she stopped in front of Adrien. "Oh, hello there, honey! How are you doing?" She cooed. Then she noticed me and snapped, "Get out of the way, Mari-trash! What are you doing, stealing my boyfriend from me?"
Miss Bustier's voice rang out loudly. "Lila, your seat is next to Max's. Class, please settle down."
Adrien said awkwardly, "Uh, I'm not your boyfriend, just to be clear on that. And this is our new seating arrangement." Then his expression hardened. "Don't call Mari like that!"
Alya jumped to my defense as well. "Girl, she has a name, you know? She's Marinette, Lie-la!"
Lila glared at her, and she shot me a deadly look as she turned to the teacher, her sour expression turning into sweet. "That's complete fine. I understand." But as she walked to the seat at the back, she sniffled. The rest of the class fell for her act and asked concernedly, "Are you alright, Lila?"
Lila's eyes were downcast. "Well... you see," She said slowly. "My eyes have some problems. And..." As she said this, she pretended to sigh. "So I can't see at the back of the class." She explained sorrowfully. Then her menacing gaze fell on me and she said bitterly, "Now because of someone very inconsiderate I have to sit at the back."
All eyes turned to me.
"What?" I cried in protest. This sounds too much, too much like the time when I got akumatized... I don't want to talk about it.
"How did your eyes have, erm , problems?" Adrien said calmly. Lila's eyebrows shot up in surprise. Clearly she had not thought this through.
"Then I suggest you sit at the back of the class so we don't argue so much. The lesson was supposed to start fifteen minutes ago." Adrien said smoothly and ushered her to her seat and sat back down on his. "So we don't change the seat arrangement the teacher set for us," He explained. Lila turned away and faced the back of the classroom angrily.
Yes! Finally I can sit with Adrien!
I've never been so happy in my life!
