When Spencer first joined the FBI he didn't think it would be that hard to keep his work life and home life separate until he met Carrie.
He and Carrie dated for 3 years and then got married. After a year of marriage then had their first child Rebecca. Then 3 years later Zachary was born. Then one year later Lila was born.
When Spencer and Carrie got married they decided the best thing for them was for her to keep her maiden name and then the kids would have her maiden name also to keep them safe from unsubs.
The only person at the BAU who knew about His family was Jason Gideon, but he left. Now he works hard everyday to keep his family safe and to keep this a secret.
