Chap 16: Victory

Coach kicked me out of the team and didn't allow me play today's match. Right now I'm seated alone in the locker room hearing faint sounds of cheering, my phone started vibrating in my pocket, I pull it out and checked the caller ID

Dad?

I hissed inwardly and answered the call

"Yes Dad?"

"Good thing you didn't disobey me this time"

"Why did you call?" I asked ignoring his statement

"Nothing, just checking if you disobeyed me" I hung up after that, pocketing my phone as I rested my head in my palms. Suddenly I heard the door slam open

"What are you doing here?!" She looked astonished

"Your team is losing, our school is losing"

"I can't play, I got kicked out" I say

"What? But you're the best player there, why would anyone want to kick you out?" she huffed

"It's complicated" I mumured

"What's so complicated about it?" She asked folding her arms

"My fuck ass Dad told coach to kick me out of the team, infact, never let me play again" I clenched my fist, feeling my anger resurface

"Well tell your fuck ass Dad he can go fuck himself"

Oh wow! this was a whole new Adah

"I've watched you play Princewill, I see the passion in your eyes, I see how happy you are when you play, you love basketball and no one or anything should stop you from doing what you love, personally I think you make a great captain, you always see the best in your teammates no matter how many times they flop, and that why they need your guide right now, cause without you in that court they are completely lost.

" Now you're gonna get your ass off that bench, put on your jersey, go out there and kick those royal asses" I stared at her open mouthed

"Quit staring and get up" she says taking out my jersey from my bag and shoving it into my hands

"I'll wait outside for you" and with that she walked out

I came out after changing and met her leaning on the wall, arms folded as she tapped her foot impatiently, she stopped when she saw me

Just then the whistle was blown by the referee for half time and they was a commotion going on with our players

"What's wrong?" I asked

"Dude you're finally here" Danny says slumping on the bench, sweat glistening on his forehead

"I knew you weren't going to listen to coach" Mike says breathing heavily

"Coach isn't here" Richie finally says, one of the players

"We were told he had an urgent place to be at" Ayo adds

"Gosh, who's gonna coach us now, those guys are really good and they keep manipulating our moves, and their next attack is always unreadable" Timi says, frustration all over his face

"Adah will coach us" I deadpanned and they looked at me as if I had grown two heads

"You're kidding right?" Timi rose a brow at me

"What does she know about basketball?"

"I agree with them, I know nothing about basketball" Adah speaks up
