I brush my hair, getting the knots out, staring at the reflection in the dresser mirror. I hum a tune to keep my spirits high. As today is January the sixth and the first day of school in the new year. I pull my h/c hair into two braids and separate the bangs by using cute little pink hair clips. I looked down at my outfit, and today I decided to wear a silver-sleeved dress that reached to the middle of my thighs and black knee high socks. For the shoes, I went with plain black flats.

"Y/n! Come down stairs, your breakfast is ready!!!" My mother yells.

I grab my school bag that holds all the school supplies and worksheets. Leaving the room and I went down the stairs quickly. My footsteps were loud and heavy as I ran down the stairs. I slow down a bit trying to quiet down my steps.

I make it to the table, where a plate of pancakes and eggs sits. My mouth waters, sniffing the delicious aroma. I take the fork that was next to the plate and cut out a piece. The taste of the delicious syrup made my taste buds sing with joy.

A hand rubs my hair nearly messing it up. I groan, moving my head away.

"Oh, don't be a baby. You can fix it later when I drop you off."

I looked up to my mom, her long dirty blonde hair was tied up in a bun. She was wearing a knitted red coat, a black dress that reached up to her knees, and wearing grey flats.

"You know it's cold out there! You should wear something warmer." Her brown eyes shine with worry.

I scoff.

"Like you're the one to talk, I'll be fine. Anyways I'm staying inside all day."

"I don't know, you get cold easily..."

"I'll be fine, I promise!"

Her eyes looks at me up and down.

"Okay, I'll allow it but I better not hear any complains or-"

"I won't!"

I smirk at my mother knowing I have won this battle.

"Hurry and finish your food." She said and went off in the living room. I hear the TV switch on.

I stare at my plate, then at the table. It was so empty. The table, not the plate. I take another bite from the stacks of pancakes and slowly chew.

'I wonder, how's Leo and Charlotte are doing?'

Things were going by so slowly. My mother was just waiting for me to finish and we could leave. I look down at my plate again.

I wasn't even close on finishing. I straightened my posture and took a deep breath.

'Come on Y/n, you can do this.'

I roll up my pancake and take huge bites out of it, while getting small bites from the eggs. In no time, I finish my breakfast.

I got up and head to the kitchen with the plate in my hand. Wash my plate and hands.

I went back to the table and grabbed my bag.

"MOM! I'M DONE!!!"

"DID YOU WASH YOUR PLATE?"

"YEAH!"

"ALRIGHT, LET'S GO THEN!"

I ran up to the front door of the house. My mom slowly walks as she checks the purse for her keys.

"Hey, Y/n did you-"

"Right next to you." I said pointing at the little hook that was holding the keys.
