I am happy and I wish to keep it that way. I had just cleared my entrance test and was waiting for my two best friends. We had stuck together through school and today we were going to the mall to celebrate.
Standing in the metro station, my thoughts drifted towards my parents, Shikha and Nakul Sachdev. They were simple people. Both engineer's by profession, earned enough to live a good life with basic luxuries. Mom and dad had always given lots of love and attention to me and at times I got things without even asking for them. But I always felt that I wasn't the best child. I have many flaws and as a teen, there was this self doubt that I was a disappointment in their eyes. The yearning to make them proud was so high that I worked twice as hard to achieve this college seat.
I wanted to see their content smiles. I wanted them to feel that all their efforts to raise me had not gone waste. Today was that day and I was sure all the aunties in the society who mocked me would shut their mouths for at least a few days.
The metro doors opened and I came out of my dreamland. I got in and the A.C winds hit my face. They were a bliss considering how hot Hyderabad is almost all the time. Again I started daydreaming about my crush Chris Hemsworth. The door opened after two stations and those lunatics who I call best friends jumped on top of me with manic smiles and squeals. The other passengers in the train glared at us. "Shut up guys!. You're disturbing others." Advitha scoffed and said " As if I care ". I rolled my eyes and listened to Diya's rants. Honestly telling I wouldn't have got through school without both of them. They are and will always be an important part of my life. We started gossiping about everything and anything under the sun and in no time we were walking inside the mall. Our problems were left behind and we had a blast.
