The entire room was silent as I moved the microphone that was placed behind us over to the side so it couldn't hear us.
I leaned up and whispered the news the doctor had just given me in Buck's ear.
"You're sure?" He looked at me with wide eyes.
"They're positive, said it seems like it's been awhile too" I said cautiously.
A grin broke out on his face.
"Positive?"
"Straight from the doctor themselves" I giggled. "Is this ok?"
Buck took the microphone and put it back where it was supposed to be.
"I do" he smiled, continuing on with the ceremony.
I took a relieved breath and gripped his hands. He took one of my hands and placed it directly over his heart.
"Your heart..." I started before he cut me off.
"When we first decided to give this a try, I told you that you were the only one that makes my heart pound like that, whenever I see you...whenever I'm around you. That hasn't changed, that never will change. I also told you that the situation was new to us and neither one of us knew what would happen. I never in a million years thought that this is what would happen. That you'd be seconds away from being pronounced my wife and...I don't know if I can say it" he chuckled with a wide smile.
"They're gonna find out sooner or later" I smirked giving him the go ahead.
"And that you'd be up here telling me that the doctor called you literally while walking down the aisle, that they told you that even after everything and all the worry, that you're having our baby." The crowd buzzed for a second before they calmed down. "I'm now a firm believer in good things take some time but great things happen all at once, when you least expect it"
"True, I never thought when you literally came bursting into my life that we would end up here. Thank you for pulling my pigtails" I smiled moving my hands to rub his arms gently.
"You can do it now" Buck chuckled towards the officiant.
"I...now pronounce you man and wife...and mom and dad" the officiant smiled wide as Buck pulled me into a kiss.
"I can't believe this is really happening, we're really having a baby...and we're officially married" Buck was full of almost nervous excitement.
"It's pretty unbelievable, I'll give you that" I breathed a laugh.
"How are you feeling? You feeling ok? Do you need anything?"
"I'm ok, we're ok" I smiled more to myself. "I feel great actually. I was worried with the way I haven't been feeling myself, I expected the worst, and it turned out to be the best"
As our wedding party and immediate family flooded the room to offer congratulations before we made our way to the reception, I couldn't help but think that in that moment I felt as full of love as I ever would be. I was so grateful for every single person in that room.
The reception went smoothly and without any major problems. It was really a night that we would remember forever.
"Once you're comfortable we can start" the tech smiled at me.
Buck was so eager to find out more about 'our little bun', that the morning after the wedding we were already having an ultrasound.
"I'm good to go whenever" I gave an excited smile.
We watched in awe as she pointed out different things and took some pictures.
"Doctor will be in to answer any questions, congratulations" the tech smiled warmly before walking out.
"I'm seeing it and I still don't believe how lucky we are" Buck explained not tearing his eyes away from the screen with a still image of the ultrasound.
"I know, I was so scared this would never happen for us, I'm having a hard time grasping onto it" I explained.
"I told you you had nothing to worry about. Either way it was always you and I facing anything life threw at us together" he took my hand in his. "And I can't wait to jump through all these new obstacles with you" he placed a kiss to my hand.
"Welcome to your new life, jerk" I giggled.
"I couldn't be more thrilled, muffin" he smirked.
"Me either" I laughed as he kissed me gently.
Life has a funny way of showing you everything is right on track. Things, both good and bad, happen at the most random times whether we're ready or not. We just have to have faith that what was meant to happen, will happen.
Sometimes when you least expect it.
