I was sat with Stiles in the hospital, waiting for Melissa to arrive. As soon as she entered the room, he headed to the door, "I'm completely and totally fine"

"Uh-uh. You completely and totally have a concussion, Stiles. Lie back down. The doctor said you're not leaving without a CT scan" she pushed him back into the room.

"We still haven't paid for the last one"

He tried to leave but she stopped him again, I made my way over to him and placed a hand on his shoulder to pull him back. "Meredith is at the station. Your dad said it could take some time but he will get her to talk. Even if I let you go, what would you do?"

I rubbed his back, "Come on, Stiles. You need rest" I told him.

"Okay," he huffed, getting back on the bed. "Can you do me one little favour?" he asked her.

"Anything"

"Can you get us a tape player?"

Melissa frowned, "Like cassettes?"

He nodded, "Yes, tapes"

"Yeah, I'll see what I can do," she began to leave the room.

"Okay, tapes, though, please" he called after her.

"Cassettes"

Once the door closed, he looked at me in confusion. "I don't get it" he sighed.

I smiled, "Maybe you should get some rest, okay? I'll be here" I gently pushed him down onto the bed and took the tape out of his pocket.

There was a knock on the door and Stiles and I looked up to see Melissa. "You find a tape player?" Stiles asked.

"No. But I found someone looking for you two" she opened the door a little wider and Malia entered the room.

"Hey" I smiled at her, watching as Melissa closed the door behind us.

She looked between both of us, "I heard you almost got killed"

Stiles nodded, "I heard you almost got killed"

"You guys okay?"

"Brunski punched me in the face and stuck a needle in Ari's neck. Turns out he's a serial killer"

She shrugged, "Makes sense"

I sighed, "What about you?"

"We almost got set on fire"

"Everyone okay?"

She nodded, "Basically"

I moved closer to her, "Are you okay?"

"I'm fine," she answered quickly. There was a moment's silence as we all glanced at each other, "I'm gonna go"

"You don't have to" Stiles tried.

"I should go," she frowned, struggling to open the door. "It's locked," she told us.

I walked over to the door, trying to open it, "Why would she lock it. Uh, Melissa?" I called.

She leaned forwards, "We could break it" she suggested.

"I already owe this hospital enough money" Stiles disagreed.

Malia began to pace around the room, "Why would she lock the door?"

I sighed, "Maybe she didn't mean to"

"You don't just accidentally lock a door"

Stiles searched for the right words, "Okay, well, maybe, she wasn't thinking, exactly. Or wasn't thinking it through. You know, people sometimes do things without thinking them through"
