Chapter 27 - Time To Go! [REWRITTEN]

After Bubby was finished on the headset, he took it off and handed it to me.

"Want to play next, Gabby?"

I took it and stood up.

"Actually, Renée wanted me to take you guys out to lunch"

He clapped his hands together and said,

"Oh! Even better!"

I walked over to the TV and unplugged the headset. I went over to the cabinet and put the headset away.

"Who has the controllers?"

I ask.

Bubby walks over to me with the controllers in hand.

"I do! Here"

"Thanks"

I grab them and put them in with the headset, and close the cabinet door.

"You two get in the car while I get the others"

I say as the two run to the garage.

I walk up to Benrey's room and knock on the door.

"Benrey, you in there?"

I ask as shuffling could be heard from the other side. I heard a slam of a drawer, a zipper being pulled up, and a 'one minute'.

"Oh my god, Benrey, hurry it up!"

He opened the door a minute later and said,

"Tell no one"

I raised an eyebrow and said,

"Yeah. Now, go get in the car, I'm taking you guys out to lunch"

He looked down at his uniform and said,

"Should I change first?"

I shook my head,

"Nah, I'm taking you guys clothes shopping after"

He nodded and left to the garage.

I walked to Gordon's room and knocked on the door.

"Hey, Gordon! You in there?"

I hear the creaking of a chair and a few seconds later he opens the door.

"Hey, Gabby! What's up?"

"We're going out to lunch. Tommy, Bubby, and Benrey are in the car already"

"Oh lunch? Nice, where we going?"

"A place called McDonalds"

"Oh nice"

He walks out and joins the others.

I head to Dr. Coomer's room and knock on his door.

"Hello? Dr. Coomer?"

He opens the door, shirtless.

"Ah! Hello, Gabrielle! I can't seem to find my shirt or my tie! Do you have any idea of where they could be?"

I thought for a second.

"I know!"

I ran to the bathroom and checked the floor.

What do you know.

"Here they are"

I pick them up and take them to Dr. Coomer.

"Here. They were in the bathroom"

He grabs them and thanks me. He closes his door and a few seconds later he opens it again.

"So, what was it that you needed?"

He says, tightening his tie.

"We're going out to lunch, and almost everyone is in the car"

He nods and says,

"Ah! I will be on my way then!"

He walks to the garage as I make my way to the room next to Coomer's, which was presumably Darnold's room.

I knock lightly on the door.

"Darnold? Are you in there?"

A quiet 'come in' was heard.

I opened the door and Darnold was on his bed with a book in hand.

"Hey, Gabby. What's up?"

Darnold says as he puts his book down and gets up off the bed.

"I'm taking the science team out to lunch. Wanna come?"

He smiles.

"Sure"

As I walk out Darnold walks next to me.

"Renée thinks you're cute"

I say to Darnold, getting a blush in response.

"R-really?"

I nod.

"Yeah. I think she likes you"

He laughs nervously.

"We just met earlier! How does she like me already?!"

I laugh and say,

"Love at first sight I guess"

He smiles and looks down.

I can smell a ship coming!

I gently nudge him in the side.

"You like her too, don't you?"

He goes red again, then says,

"I-uhh w-well. . ."

I laugh again.

"It's okay. I won't tell her"

He smiles and says,

"Thanks"

We make it to the garage. 

Emery makes it to the garage door and says,

"You guys be-OOF! safe okay-EEE! Ha ha!"

I giggle and respond with,

"We will! Bye, Emery! Tell Renée we're off to lunch now!

She nods and leaves.

Darnold gets in the back of the car while I get into the drivers seat.

Dr. Coomer, Bubby, and Tommy are all sitting in the very back, while Darnold and Benrey have the middle seats. Gordon is sitting in the passenger seat.

I pull out the keys, and put them into ignition. I buckle up and start the car.

"Seat belts, everyone!" (I was today years old when I found out that was a Magic School Bus reference)

I yell behind me.

The clicking of seat belts filled the car.

"Next stop, McDonalds!"
