Liza.

After taking a shower I felt refreshed and more alive than before, my temperature had gone down and I didn't feel as sick as earlier today.

I opened the bag I had brought and took out a sweatshirt and a short, kept my bag in the closet and headed downstairs.

Immediately, my legs touched the last step, the aroma of pepperoni pizza hit my nose and my stomach responded loudly to the call of dinner.

"You should have let me know you were very hungry, I would have made you eat something before coming. We weren't in such a hurry," John said coming from behind me.

"Geez, you startled me. You should know gentlemen don't go around startling young women," I said frowning.

"I am so sorry, I didn't know you were too engrossed in the aroma of dinner, that you didn't hear me coming," he said smirking.

"I was not, I was just lost in thoughts," I said embarrassed.

"Okay, please don't mind me. Let's go eat," he said chuckling to himself.

As I followed him to the living room, I saw two packs of pizza which was pepperoni pizza and the second pack chicken and mushroom pizza.

"My favorite," I said pointing at the chicken and mushroom pizza.

"Really? Sorry, I couldn't cook dinner," he said taking a slice of pizza.

"It's not a problem anyway is not all guys who knows how to cook," I replied taking a slice of the pizza.

"I do know how to cook, I was just tired."

"That's good because it's not only the women that are expected to cook, you can't keep expecting your wife to cook for you," I said as I looked around. "By the way where is your wife?" I ask thoughtfully.

"Wife?" He asked choking on his pizza.

"Yes, wife or aren't you married?"

Laughing, he ask "what makes you think I'm married or do I look married to you?"

"Well, I just thought you were married, I'm sorry if you aren't. My mistake," I said mumbling.

"I've been called so many things like gay and bipolar but never a married man."

"Any girlfriend?"

"Nope and I don't think I have time for one either."

"Oh, okay," I say relieved.

Immediately, my phone rings, checking the caller ID, I look up to John who's staring at me now.

"Who's that?" He asked.

"It's Amanda. What should I tell her?"

"Anything, except that you're staying here."

"Okay." I say before picking up my call.

"What's up girl? I heard you have the flu?" Amanda asked immediately I answered.

"Yep, but am much better now."

"So where are you?"

"I don't understand."

"I mean I came over to your apartment but you weren't around and as a matter of fact I know you still aren't home because I'm standing or actually sitting in my car looking right at your house."

"Well, isn't that creepy?"

"What is?"

"You know you in front of my house anyway why are you there?" I asked mystified.

"Nothing...I .. was just ... you know em... wanting to see you, nothing much."

"Okay?" I say or ask quite unsure of what else to say and not believing her a bit.

"But girl, where are you?"

"I'm actually staying over at a friend's house for a couple of days."

"Okay, any friend I know? I mean we know?"

"Not exactly and please do me a favor and tell the girls."

"Okay, goodnight and stay safe dear."

"Goodnight."

"Friend, huh?" John ask smirking as soon as I hangup.

"What else were you expecting me to say?"

"Well, you could have told them that you went on a business or pleasure trip."

"Trip? They know my writing which is the only business I have doesn't warrant travelling and most of all am not a travel person."

"Okay."

"So tell me why you don't have a girlfriend?" I ask prying.

"Well that's because the last breakup I had destroyed my view of relationship," he says shrugging.

"What happened?" I ask slightly disappointed.
