AUSTIN POV
When I finished my toast, everyone applauded, Nate, and Kayla hugged me. The band announced a toast to Maid of Honor, but Lilla did not react to the leader's words. I walked over to her, put my hands on her shoulders, and leaned over her.
- Lilla, it's your turn, - I told her in her ear, she shook herself and looked at me in surprise
- What did you say? the surprise was still on her face
- time for your toast - her behavior was starting to worry me
- a toast? - She looked at Kayla. - Ah, toast, sure.
- is everything all right?
- yes, yes time for a toast - she smiled uncertainly - yours was really beautiful.
I returned to my seat, Lilla got up, straightened her dress, looked around the hall
Good evening, some of you don't know me, my name is Lilla and I've been Kayla's friend since I was 6 years old. The first thing I wanted to say is that congratulations You two. I wish you a lot of happiness in your new way of life.
- Are you going to cry? - I asked
- I'll try not - Lilla smiled weakly - coming back to the toast
Before Kayla, in my life, there was no place for typical girlish fun because my only friend was Austin. When I saw her for the first time at the table in the corner of the classroom, I decided that she would become my friend because she played with dolls and I always wanted someone to play with the dolls.
- not my fault that you always lost competitions about who will decide what we will play - I interrupted, making Lilla and Kayla roll her eyes
When I finally got my courage, I approached her. I knew that she would be someone special to me like Austin, even though I was tired of building fortresses and playing with cars.
Lilla talked about their friendship and I couldn't take my eyes off how slowly and gracefully she moved as she spoke, telling the story of all their relationship including the memory of how many times they planned the future. Then she smiled and said.
We got lost for a moment, but now we are back on the right path, which makes me very happy because I will be able to witness your great love.
The whole hall sounded with even greater applause than after my toast, which does not surprise me at all.
Kayla stood and hugged with Lilla for a long moment, Nate found the tissues and handed them to the girls and they moved apart.
The moment she talked about the fact that they would be visiting each other made me understand that she was leaving and I didn't necessarily want that to happen.
Eventually, the band started to play and Kayla and Nate went to start their first dance, Me and Lilla stood side by side on the edge of the dance floor, rocking with them to the song 'Nothing gonna stop us now' by Starship.
I don't know why I was expecting some haughty song and English waltz, while Kayla and Nate definitely decided to just dance. The whole family stood around the dance floor and began clapping their hands.
- we invite the groomsman and maid of honor to the dance floor - said one of the band members - and right behind them all the bridesmaids and partners
I took Lilla's hand a bit by surprise for her, she was lost in thought again but when she realized where she was and what she was doing she smiled at me.
Moments later their parents and aunts joined. There was already a large crowd on the dance floor, Lilla clearly relaxed. Moments later she looked at me and I kissed her and the world could stop. It got quiet, the music continued, but there was no movement, no one was talking.
