Chapter 14 – Almost Lover

Nico hadn’t really done much for a solid two days, she had booked a hotel room and hadn’t left since – she ordered room service and she had grabbed two pairs of trackies and a couple of tank tops in her hasty exit the other night. So it was safe to say she needed to get out before she went mental but she couldn’t bring herself to do anything. Finally deciding she needed some fresh air and she needed to get on with her left she put on the pair of skinny jeans she left in the other night and a white tank top, heading out. She knew Oliver would be at work – well hopefully unless he was acting like her and hadn’t been going in.

She made her way over to their apartment hoping to get her stuff before he came back – it shouldn’t have been that hard she hadn’t even unpacked since she came back off tour. She slid the key in the door, luckily the house was empty so she got a move on, stuffing all her clothes and belongings into a suitcase and a rucksack but being fair she left all the things her and Oliver co-owned. Finally finished, she dragged the luggage downstairs and got out a notepad.

I came to get my things while you were at work, here is my key - the apartment is yours now. I'm sorry it had to be like this. I think I'm going to join the band on the American tour. It will give me a chance to clear my head and I will at least be doing something other than going crazy each day by myself with no work. Forget about me and move on Oliver.

Nico lent the notepad up against the wall on the table and left chucking her bags into the car. She pulled her phone out to text Flyzik.

To Flyzik:

Hey change of plan, is there still a spot for me on the US tour, I would love to come. Let me know soon. – Nico xx

She sent the message and almost instantly got a reply back.

From Flyzik:

Of course there is, were happy to have you! Can’t wait to see you, tell me when you’re flying out and will come pick you up. The guys are happy to know you’re coming back on tour! See you soon – Matt x

Nico read the text message and drove straight to the airport, she had enough money in her bank to buy a plane ticket to Baltimore, so that’s what she did.

To Flyzik:

This is going to sound crazy but I’m kinda on a plane now, you’ll be seeing me sooner than you think – Nico xx

Nico sat down on the plane next to a guy, she sat down next to him happy she had a window seat. She was just about to put her earphones in when he introduced himself.

“Hey I’m Max” he introduced, she smiled politely, he was quite cute and she couldn’t help but think she had seen him somewhere before.

“Nico” she replied.

“So how come you’re going to Baltimore” he attempted making conversation seeming quite awkward, she couldn’t help but grin at him.

“I’ve decided to run from my problems instead of facing them” she answered cryptically.

“That’s never a good thing to do” she shook her head agreeing with him.

“No but it’s the easy thing to do...”

“Why are you going to Baltimore?” she turned the question on him.

“I’m touring with my band” he replied.

“I knew I’d seen you from somewhere, you’re in you me at six” she replied in a ‘a hah’ tone, he grinned and nodded.

“So fancy telling a stranger what problems you’re running from? It’s not like we’re ever going to see each other again, it could hurt and honestly I’m curious?”

“It’s a long complicated story” he raised his eyebrow, she sighed and started with the story trying to explain in as much detail as possible but just leaving out actual names. “And honestly I don’t even know why I'm coming on this tour I mean the guy in the band, we had a no strings attached thing but somehow in-between everything: the long nights staying up it became more than just sex and I don’t know I like him. I really like him – I wouldn’t say I love him…but I don’t know.”

“I’d say go for it, listen to your heart not your head. Tell him you like him and give it a go – the worst that can happen is that it doesn’t work out and you go back to being friends. You may think you broke up with this other guy because of him but honestly it sounds like you would have ended up breaking up at one point this just sped up the process. We only have so much time; you shouldn’t waste it settling for people. Be spontaneous – when you get off this plane the first this you should tell this guy is how much you like him. Don’t think, just do!”  

“Thanks you’ve actually been really helpful.”

“Who knew?”

Nico got off the plane and turned her phone back on.

From Flyzik:

Okay just tell me when to come pick you up x

To Flyzik:

I’ve just got off me flight x

From Flyzik:

Okay will be there in 10 x

“NICO!” she heard a scream to the side of her after she’d been waiting for about fifteen minutes, she saw Jack running towards her. He collided with her knocking her to the ground, his legs straddled her waist. Nico looked at the position they were in and raised her eyebrows.

“I knew you missed me Jack but I didn’t know you missed me this much” Nico joked, Jack stuck his tongue out playfully.

“You know you love it” he replied then flicked her head.

“What was that for?!” she demanded huffing.

“For leaving without saying goodbye maybe now you will learn your lesson” he told her like a moody teenager getting up off her and standing behind Matt glaring at her now she giggled. Zack offered her is hand to help her get up she took it gracefully and stuck her tongue out at Jack. She wrapped her arms around Jack and then moved on to Rian and Matt.

“I’ve really missed you guys” she told them welling up. “And you all came to meet me, aww guys!”

“Everyone apart from Alex” Jack mumbled, Rian elbowed him. “Ow” he complained.

“Cass and Taylor wanted to come but they couldn’t fit in the car” Rian explained. They pulled up outside Matt’s house where all the crew and the girls were. She squealed and jumped out the car as soon as it stopped running up to Cass and Taylor and hugging the two excitedly.

“You’re here!” Taylor exclaimed happily.

“Why are you here?” Cassadee asked. “What happened to loverboy and starting a new chapter in your life?”

“I’ll explain later” she told the two and went to greet everyone else. Nico craned her head looking for Alex.

“Alex is inside” Taylor whispered in her ear, Nico made her way inside.

“Don’t think, just do” she whispered repeatedly to herself.

“Nico” Alex greeted her quietly, her face lit up but soon fell seeing the blonde bimbo that was hanging off his arm.

“Alex?”

“This is Stella, my girlfriend.”
